I agree that for what I will be receiving i payed too much. Also, although getting taught how to install various appliances, there wasn’t enough time spent on this. I also agree that this type of crash course will arm many people with the idea that they understand more than they do, which is obviously dangerous.
So what makes you believe that you will benefit by being employed to carry out EICRS on your own? Most modern employers want people who can hit the ground running?
I’d suggest that you would be far better to attach yourself to a small outfit that may allow you to shadow them. I would also suggest that you may then go on to train for the correct installation courses.

I’f you read back through my messages I didn’t once state that.
I feel like I’ve said enough on the matter but thanks for your input.

Just went to look at a friend of my sons house who are having a kitchen installed kitchen fitters have installed sockets and are in the process of fitting a oven and induction hob.point is they have done a course in kitchen Electrics? And everything is fed off the old cooker cable with appropriate connector block! They asked me to have a look to sign off the work, I explained about rcd protection and they said no one told them about it on the course, and it will all work so what's the problem. Not all courses are equal research as much as possible to understand if it is worth your money.Look on YouTube plenty of good sparks on it to guide you, IET guidebooks are good electricalsafetyfirst is a good resource but as everyone said a good mentor is priceless

Fortunately, and this may be a rare case perhaps, the course I’ve taken does ensure sufficient knowledge is given to the students about how to ensure fault protection is achieved.

how do you know that? there will be lots missed, you just dont know whats been missed to know its been missed

So having read back through your posts you started with doing agency work as a tester, which implies going it alone.
You believe that because you have done these courses that an employer will see it as a level of maturity and commitment- no they see many people with these courses and some don’t really care and will allow you to do what you want without much in the way of support others will just cast you aside.

I am not trying to disrespect you here I’m just suggesting that you have been sold down the river by the training company. You, like many and you are not the first on here either, are being miss sold on what you will be capable of doing.
When these courses first came out they were for people who were sparks that had perhaps not kept up to date with the qualifications etc or who perhaps as in the old days had gained ‘grandfather’ rights so didn’t have the qualification to support their abilities. However these training providers see an opportunity to make money so started offering them as a means to start a new life in electrics to people like yourself.

All I’m saying it if you are serious about being an electrician then you really ought to do the fundamental courses not the periphery courses first.

I’m finished with this discussion

You are welcome to bury your head in the sand however that will not change what has happened to you.
Go speak to a local college and ask about the installation courses, they may or may not agree with me but at least you will have a second opinion.

I wish you well.

why? because you didnt like the answers? does the fact that everyone here is saying different to what youve been told by your 'training provider' not give you bit of a hint that something is wrong? or you just dont want to acknowledge it and hoping for someone to confirm that your 'training provider' is right?

This really is the last time I’ll comment. I appreciate why

this really will be the last time I comment. I appreciate why you guys are so passionate so good on you. You need to be passionate about something you love. I like the idea of a place when people can discuss things sensibly so I don’t want to be upsetting anyone. Let’s all just move on and I wish you guys good luck as well.

Peace
