Regarding the noise of AC coupled inverter. I have decided that it will be better to site the battery and inverter in our porch. I can run 6mm SWA and the comms lead outside and get the electrician to drill a hole through the wall next to the CU.

If the shipping delays hitting the states are anything to go by, it could be later 🤦‍♂️
The permission from the DNO only lasts for a year, after which I'll need to reapply.
Hope they get them before next June then!!:ROFLMAO:
I saw Wuhan is locked down again.... 4 covid cases!!

When you say porch is it a brick built. Make sure it's not a uPVC porch as they get rather hot and your equipments life can be reduced. I had my first system placed in the loft. I would never advise a loft unless you make sure the equipment is well ventilated specially in summer months.

Thanks Gian. :)
No, it's an open porch that I built. Won't get hot and the equipment will stay dry.(y)

OMG! My battery and inverter from ITS arrived yesterday. They had advised that delivery would be 7th November and to make sure I was in. It was therefore lucky I was here. Battery came on a pallet and the inverter came on a separate overnight courier. Funny how you get an instant email to review...Yeah, give me a chance to use it!:ROFLMAO:.
No rush to install. Not exporting much now.:(.

Looking to install this in our porch and see some immediate problems:
The solis hybrid inverter (RAI-3K- 48ES-5G) comes with an Acrel smart meter. Ideally I'd like to mount this in the cupboard that houses the consumer unit and all the solar metering. However, the RS485 cable which plugs between the Acrel meter and the inverter is much too short. I need it to be around 12m long. Is there some sort of male/female extension I could get?
Additionally, it would appear that the Acrel meter is class 2 and needs to be energized from the grid?

It must be your supplier thats packaged the two together, it doesnt appear to be supplied with the meter elsewhere.

That seems to be the normal choice, I personally used a CT rather than a meter to get a quicker response time.

Not sure on your system the sort of termination. On my system it's just wired with multicore cable to the terminal strips. 12m isnt a problems for RS485.

And your question is?

I got a acrel meter with my setup
If yes you don't need to plug it into the inverter.
Mine is installed in my house. Using a CT clamp and a live and neutral. The inverter is 10 mtr away in the garage.

I've attached some images of what I did.

Is your metre like the one in the link?

Anyway
I bought a rj45 10m extension and a rj45 female to female connector. As I didn't have room in my consumer unit I purchased a Wylex WBE3 IP65 3-Module and mounted the metre in that.

And your question is?
Do I just hard wire from the consumer unit?
