Tong test (Clamp on amp meter) on the 3 phases one at a time going to the motor, they should be equal and not above the name plate rated...

Check the fan on the back of the motor is intact and not blocked, i.e. it is generating enough cooling air for the motor.

I can agree we used to test against a known value ie a meter within calibration date worked for one of the big six.
