This is not an answer, but a response.
My immediate response to this is that there is no such thing a relatively safe. With mains voltage electrics it's either very safe or not safe at all.
I've been told that colour blindness comes into it where the earth is green/yellow. So a colour blind person can see that it is made up of two colours. I can understand that logic. So at least the earth won't be mistaken for a line conductor.
I supose that after brexit we will be returning to the more logical colour coding. Red, yellow and blue for phase colours. Red and black for live and neutral.
Makes sense doesn't it?
OK so the only alternatives as I can see, are 1) Being employed directly by a contractor or 2) Registering as self-employed. I have been overseas for some years but these seem to be the options. Right?
How fair is agency work? This is a genuine question.
I started work for an agency. Its the first time I have done this. I dont get paid by the agency, but by a some organisation that calls itself my employer. So the electrical contractor pays the employment agency and the employment agency pays...
I joined this forum recently to learn more about electrics in the UK.
I have been overseas many years in the construction industry.
Now Ive up-dated my JIB and done the 17th edition, now looking for work in Hampshire.
Seems like its not easy!!
What's the trick?
