    Earth/ CPC very high potential

Thanks for your comment.  They teach what they teach and you have to keep learning afterwards.  Not going to apologise for that.  Everyone was new once.  Just came on and asked for some advice.

    Earth/ CPC very high potential

Hi all, looking for some advice for a rookie please.  This concerns a 2-way lighting circuit, that's to have some LED downlights to replace old halogens.  It was just to be a replacement of lights so a ran a quick Zs test beforehand and MFT sounded "voltage/ polarity" alarm.  From the supply...

    iCertifi - how to notify

Thanks. Actually I've been looking at this since posting and figured it out.  I think I'll use the NICEIC notification and certificate generator instead of iCertifi, it looks good.

    iCertifi - how to notify

Hi all, bit of a noobish question but I need a point in the right direction because I'm new at this. How do I submit iCertifi certificates to Building Control?  I've just got my NICEIC membership/ portal etc but I can't see how to use a completed certificate from iCertifi. I know I could just...

    Which reference method?

Yeah, I was going to use ref A as it's the worst case.  Calcs hold up but just thought there might be an answer to a typical scenario.

    Which reference method?

Hi all, My apologies for this post because this should be simple, right??? Which reference method for T&E, in a mini-trunking that's clipped to, not in, brickwork? The regs go into great detail about enclosed in wall, clipped direct, different measures for flat or round flex....but they...

New outbuilding/ house is on TT

I mean about the testing gear that I don't have an earth resistance tester yet.  Is it necessary, or can you get by with spikes and a regular ohm meter (I have Kewtech KT63).

New outbuilding/ house is on TT

For clarification (as this is my first rod install....) if I put a rod in locally at the outbuilding, and bond it to the earthing terminal in the new CU, presumably the E core from the sub main is also connected there, and by definition, also connected to the existing rod for the house? Looks...

New outbuilding/ house is on TT

Hi all, I'm a relatively new electrician and gaining experience.  I have a simple CU installation for an outbuilding, with a few ways to add.  Question is of earthing.  The main house is on a TT, with a nice 10mm sub main to the outbuilding.  (As yet not tested, to be re-used form a previous...

    Garage CU - testing Ze

I see what you mean. To be clear, the garage had an existing supply from new build.  All I have done is strip out and re-wire a different installation and re-terminate the swa tina new CU.
