    Mains switch fuse

Are those the thick nuts with ridges on them and a earth screw on them for a crimp? (best way I could describe them)

    Mains switch fuse

Supply to mains consumer unit in a renovated property. Already ran the swa cable, was just wondering what people’s thoughts were between using metal clad and the Bakelite switch fuse. Obviously the Bakelite is half the price and smaller if space is an issue.

    Mains switch fuse

Hi, what is the best way to terminate swa at supply end when using switch fuse? Is the only option using a metal clad switch fuse or can a non combustible Bakelite switch fuse be used with some form of metal through box for terminating swa? I know the metal clad switch fuse is ideally used...

    Bathroom mirror wiring

Down rate breaker size in consumer unit, ensure rcd protected. Maybe fit a fuse spur with 3amp fuse and change to 1mm t&e to mirror... like Lurch says 2.5mm into a mirror is not easy...

    Over 3m Meter tails

Yeah iv told her to contact northern power grid, think they normally charge around £300-£500. She didn't seem bothered about that amount, but will wait and see what they have told her about moving it.

    Over 3m Meter tails

No, I didn't look in the distributors cut out, and the customer is hoping to get her meter moved from inside house to outside anyway.

    Over 3m Meter tails

Yeah I agree with not wanting to mess around with metal conduit. Its got concrete floors, so up the wall and into the roof space is only option really. However, there is no loft so will be going through roof joists. i don't think the customer would want the swa on the outside of the property...

    Over 3m Meter tails

Hi, a customer wants me to move her existing consumer unit 12m away to a new location. This is a refurb property so running tails is not an issue... what I am struggling to decide upon is the best way to do this. I know it is not best practice to use a rcd in meter box, so do I run 16mm swa in...

    rcd tripping

Yes only sockets in the rcd, according to the owner. They have tried unplugging everything and still tripped, but then it reset and worked for a day or so. They say no d.i.y has been done.

    rcd tripping

Hi, got all sockets tripping for no apparent reason, were fine then sockets just tripped, customer says no d.i.y being done or anything else. I asked how old the consumer unit was, about twenty yr old, a metal box. Could the problem be a faulty rcd? All the sockets are on one rcd.

Hi, went to look at a fault on a newlec nl5704 fire panel, the general fault and power fault lights were flashing. Any ideas where i can get a instruction manual from or any ideas on the fault itself? Any help would be much appreciated.
