    Sodium Floodlights

A bit late to the party here so might be too late but it is also worth checking the condition of the lamp holder and its contactact. A lot of heat comes of 1000w SONs and if the fittings are any sort of age it could be a factor.

    Prehistoric Relics Found

I haven't darkened the doorway of a CEF branch in many years! Hate them with a passion  X( I'm based in Bangor so get a lot of stuff from Direct Fixings in Balloo and our main tendered electrical wholesalers are Gordons in Ballynahinch. I would order each size of screw from 1/2" x 8 up to 3"...

    Prehistoric Relics Found

    Cordless Angle Grinders

We use a De Walt 18V though it's a few years old now. Brilliant bit of kit that we mainly use for cutting padlocks and grinding off rusted bolts and floodlight fittings along the marina. It hasn't been defeated yet.

Hi - Question Re. Multiple Failing Appliances

Another possible cause could be circuit polarity. Try and get hold of a socket tester with the three neons on it. Using is self explanetary. Plug in, all three lights light up, all's ok. Any combination of two lamps lit  will be listed as a particuler fault eg reversed polarity or earth or...

Has Snow Stopped Anyone Getting To Work

Off on the sick at the moment unfortunately, but there's not much snow here at the moment and my daily is a 4x4 so wouldn't be hindered. I'm on the coast so inland a bit could be a different story.

    Car Park Lighting Fault

True  :B-  . If I'd been on a price it would have been hit a smack with a hammer. Drained, disconnected and removed from the ceiling all in one swing lol  :Blushing   :innocent

    Car Park Lighting Fault

I replaced a fitting just like this before christmas there. My prefered method of draining though is to drill a hole in the cover and drain the water into a bucket. Don't really fancy wet arms  :P

    1000W Son Floodlight

We've a running track and Hockey pithes here lit by 2000w Metal Halide lamps. 415V control gear with the ballast and capacitors in the base of the column and ignitor up in the head beside the lamp.  Heres a couple of pics of us working on them - Lowering column on hydraulic ram -  Working...

    1000W Son Floodlight

As said Tridonic and Parmar supply gear for 1000w Son but try to avoid mixing and matching ( For instance a Parmar ignitor and a Tridonic ballast) as they are not always compatible.

Anyone Any Good At Damp Problems?

Has the room got a bay window? Sometimes the damp can be a result of a leak somewhere else or ineffective guttering. May not be the case but worth discounting.

    Advice Needed Re Cable Pulling

I realised after my post that the op did not mean T&E cables but I couldn't be arsed to edit after my last attempt at editing  :Blushing  . Whilst T&E cables might not be intended for conduit over here ( N.I ) even in domestic installs, we would do switch and socket drops in oval or...

    Advice Needed Re Cable Pulling

Get a friend to feed the cables in as you draw them out. Multiple T&E's (if that's what they are) getting twisted in a conduit will go no where and risk damage to the cable and/or the conduit.
