    Monitor problems

In a new build (yes yes, i know)... my 24" monitor (one of three on a gaming PC setup) keeps going off for a couple of seconds when either my Hive heating hub clicks on/off, or my dryer stops temporarily before starting again (at which point it goes off again)... any ideas what can cause this...

Thanks for the information, next year when i look to make a start ill do just that. I appreciate the info (y) Locked to prevent hi-jacking (again)

Ring mains in a new build

I'll take that as a compliment 😉 although instead of looking at it that way, i prefer to look at it as due diligence. Given the clear inference here from other electricians commenting as to the reputation and workmanship of electricians on new build sites, i don't know why you would see me...

Ring mains in a new build

I wish you had done this house lol The problem i have is that if i bang on about it being incorrect or insufficient labelling now, all they have to do to remedy it is come along and write on the sticker to say which circuit it is (hopefully after making sure they're correct) which is obviously...

Ring mains in a new build

I like your full response, it sounds similar to something I would say in response to someone who knows little about the field hes enquiring about, of which I am an expert. That being the point here - i am not an expert in electrics. So put yourself in my position, using that fact i would draw...

    Summer house installation

About 30 miles north of Manchester, cost isnt the issue its the logistics of whats needed where and in what order. Im a project manager so organising it isnt a problem, but this is the reason im here, information gathering. I appreciate there may be only so much that can be done without getting...

    Summer house installation

Minimum size will be around 7m x 3m for the summer house Hot tub will be fixed, no ideas on size, still at the ideas stage but ive got a feeling from the mrs itll be happening. Cant imagine any more than one for 6/8 people though as thats where they get huge i think.  And yes, this is all part...

    Summer house installation

Erring on the side of caution id say 4 double sockets for appliances to provide music, TV, maybe an electric heater but not sure so lets say yes to that, and the Mrs has just mentioned a hot tub on one side of it 🤨😂. Id rather go overkill on the cable size though so i know its safe.

    Summer house installation

I'm sure a mini digger will make light work of it!  Is there any particular rating to the SWA cable thats required or would it just be the equivalent of 2x 2.5mm twin and earth to make a ring? to be honest ill probably need to lay that first given the plans (levelling the garden, decking etc)...

True enough, thanks for the information although convincing the Mrs of this might be a different story! 🤣

    Summer house installation

Hi guys! I'm starting to plan out the garden and going to build a relatively average sized summer house, and wondered what would be required in order to wire it up from the consumer unit at the house. Can anyone tell me the basics of what would be required, such as whether it could be...

Ring mains in a new build

I think that all depends if you're not an electrician and think somethings isolated across the floor and it isn't 😂 Generally speaking though i do fully agree with that statement. Thanks for the replies everyone, i'm assuming this would be a quick wiring reshuffle at the consumer unit if i did...

Ring mains in a new build

We've just moved into a new build property and it has a consumer unit in the garage, all looks fine. Anyway i was looking at what switches did what as it...
