    PEFC - Design Vs testing

The only reason to work out the PEFC at the end of the circuit would be to stick the figure into the adiabatic equation to work out if the CPC is adequately sized,,,, however that only gets you the size at the end of the circuit and misses the beginning totally

    Another C&G level 2 question

Definitely look at these, but also think about how fast the RCD component of the RCBO needs to operate during fault conditions

    SWA Termination Query

That is far from ideal, especially if it’s buried…. If that’s the quality of the work then I’d probably be looking to replace the entire run of cable. IMHO though,,, you need an electrician to test and identify the cause of the fault rather than randomly “following your nose”,,, you may be...

Is this new EV circuit compliant?

No… that RCBO only switches the line conductor Should also have a SPD IMHO….. its not difficult

    cooker trips CDC

I had a fault the other week where pretty much anything being switched on in the kitchen would trip the RCD (cooker, kettle and even the fridge),,,, I tracked the fault down pretty quickly using proper fault finding techniques,,,, there was a trapped neutral conductor behind a socket in the...

New Induction Hob No Earth Terminal

For those that aren’t used to induction hobs (especially the plug in type)… they modulate the hobs so that that the total amount of power doesn’t exceed 13A,,, generally you won’t notice this as everything will cook fine, however they’ll only allow one cooking zone to be at max (boost) power at...

    Tesco solar panels

Absolutely!!!! The owner of a local retail unit (with multiple occupants) has just put something like £100,000 worth of PV on its roof,,, he recons that the ROI is about 12 months!!!!!!!

    landline number without the landline

My wife has a care link system,,, it’s recently been replaced as we’ve moved house… The new one uses the mobile networks…. If it cant connect on one it moves onto the next, and then the next, and so on…… it also has an inbuilt battery backup so should work in the event of a power cut

Question as I think Im Right But Want To Make Sure

Check wether the circ feeds from the boiler are extraneous or not, as the oil is outside then it’s irrelevant

Am I expected to be competant in Extractor fan installs as a bs7671 electrician?

If you’re coring a hole one of these is a great investment,,, mine can take a 152mm core drill (without the brush insert) and leaves hardly any dust

    Deke

Those 3 years have gone really fast…… theres something to be said for straight talking, however the woke parts of our society don’t seem to like it :ROFLMAO:

    Looped Supply

It’s the same with EV charge point installations…. We’re not allowed to fit them on looped supplies, however if it’s the last property in the loop then it looks like it isn’t looped……. I think that the DNO’s are accepting that a looped supply can have 1 charge point connected to it, but not 2 as...

Meter box with hinges on the right

If 400mm wide and 560mm tall are not the standard single phase size then you could get a three phase one… beware though that they’re friggin expensive compared

GOV.UK advice on Rented properties for smoke alarms.

In Wales it comes under the “Fitness For Human Habitation Act (Wales) 2022”…. I’d assume that there was something similar for other areas in the UK

Upstairs landing light either randomly flashes or stays on half brightness.

Fix the damaged cable first! if it’s a LED lamp coming on at a lower brightness it could be due to capacitive coupling,,, it you replace them with filament lamps I bet the “fault” clears
