    To answer Q1 What would the current be if the load were purely resistive? The difference between this and the stated current is due to reactance in the load. Comparing the 2 currents using a vector diagram will give you the power factor.

    The immersion heater will not draw 3kW for as long as it is on. It will not use energy (whether from solar or grid) once it is up to temperature and the thermostat operates. If it "never" draws power from the grid then when there's no solar excess there's no hot water unless there's another...

    Yes, the CPC may be extended to another fitting that does need a cpc connection. It is better to use best practice than to say "the regs don't require it"
