Looks like this thread may have slowed down so, here
is another one.
Imagine a motor comes back to you after a rewire but
the starts & finishes have not been identified or tagged
up, or someone has removed the tags/ferrules.
How would, or how could you identify them and what is
the...
I think Sidewinder has had a go at this before.
With that lot on your communications with others
would be impaired. PPE should be a last resort
& not a first.
Some of you may be involved in this lot but the HSE plus what
masquerades as government are proposing "wholesale" changes
to these regulations.
I was handed a magazine yesterday and I read the article. I can
quote from one of the paragraphs;
"Putting aside any issues about retention of the...
Would go with Matty on this.
I have no idea if anyone followed the events of the Budget this week.
Up till then, you had no choice upon retirement but to purchase an
Annuity. All that changed with the Budget and it means that you can
now draw the ENTIRE pension as a lump sum on retirement...
I did read something many years ago about drying out motors
using welders or MG sets as welders. The nature of the note
was more cautionary than procedural because the originator
clearly knew it went on and that damage had been done.
Assuming that the motor coils are intact a small heating...
Yes; and the Russians knew that radio valves would work
after a nuclear strike and that transistors would not.
The Americans ditched valves at the first opportunity.
I looked at this "all ends up" yesterday. I wondered about looking
at it as a "black box" so I did the following.
I wondered what might happen to the reads on the ends of the wires
coming out, as Sidewinder says, there are only three and the centre
point, if there is one, is hidden.
So; ...
I thought about this last night; I think I have a solution based
upon "Black Box" analysis.
Sidewinder is right; my previous method would NOT work
because too many assumptions need to be made.
The Black Box analysis is more reliable because if you have
two such boxes, the same test has...
I have had a look at this all ends up....I have even tried to
examine it using a "black box" technique.
Consider this; If one conductor is disconnected in delta
only one set of windings is energised. If one conductor
is disconnected in star two sets of windings will be energised.
This...
Sidewinder; I will have to post the sketches and yes,
Kirchoff's laws underpin this lot.
It is a good many years ago but I knew the guys who were
REALLY up against it.
The problem was a tank of liquid methane and the submerged
pump single phased and blew the HRC fuses.
The procedure in...
My correction; the second ammeter should read double
the read on the other one because it will be reading the
current flowing in one winding. The first ammeter will be
reading the current in two windings in series.
I just went back to the cigar packet.
I have had an idea.
Arrange to pass a small direct current through
the motor windings using a small power source,
like a battery.
Measure said current. Do this three ways.
Record results. They should be the same.
Now, let one terminal be A the next B and the next C.
The battery and its...
