Or just buy a light with a built in Photocell, turned on too maximum on time.

Who said the lamp has to have a photo cell next to it, or that a light needs to be sideways?

I can only suggest you read everything again, or that you give up and get someone in to do it for you.
No, if i need to put it above a junction box in case i can't have it mounted directly above the door like my old one i'd need to have it aiming sideways. Because the junction box is currently next to a pipe and i fed the wire behind that into the box. That's basically the other end of my yard and it wouldn't light up the whole yard, like my other one did which was directly in the middle above the door/installed on the wall.

Take a pic from outside showing the wires/box and location in relation to the door.
As you have a junction box you can run a cable from that to the light at any given distance providing you fix cable to wall.
I'll take some photos. And i would rather go with a separate cell to be honest in case i buy a full lamp with a sensor and it breaks.

So i want to put it over the door and as you can see the box is quite far, but my last lamp fitted there and reached the terminal inside the junction box

Something tells me that box will be filling with water through the back at the cable entry.

well, I’ve yet to see a wall mounted box get moisture inside from a rear entry cable, whereas older units with cable glands at the top it’s almost a dead cert
There is a great lump of brickwork missing leaving the back open to the elements.

The top of my roof sticks out quite a bit and covers the box. Also, i checked inside there yesterday and it's bone dry because i needed to take my old light down ;D

Also, not a lot of give is in the wiring coming from the house. How can i find out how much wire is in there?

Take the wall down inside and trace the cable back? Seems a little excessive to me.
Why don’t you, remove box, plug the hole with some silicone, place box directly over the now filled hole, this will gain you a little extra, which providing you can attach a wago to the end of each core will be sufficient to make off and connect the cores to and from the sensor and light.

Why are you so concerned about how much cable is there?
