I'd like to know why we even need one if we have a smart meter that reads export?
One seems to make sense for the no longer available FIT payments where I believe there was a generation element to the payment. But new installs haven't been able to get that for ages.

My installer put mine between AC Grid and the CU.

I believe that the backup outlet is for running an up to 3.5 kw feed that supports important devices like fridges, from batteries, in the event if a power cut.
Thanks m8. My electrition said it goes there but we were both unsure about the backup. If it needed a meter also.

Mostly generation meters are installed as a hangover from the days of FiT, there really isn't any need for them. I still install them in hope some form of FiT returns - did I just see a flying pig 🐷😄

Do you think it's not worth bothering? Would the dno want one fitting?

Were just filling in the g98 for for northern power grid.
There's a section that says summary details of micro generator where multiple micro generator will exists within one premise. Do I fill this section in of I'm using a single inverter

A mate of mine was clearing his garage and knowing I've just fitted solar asked if a hosola 2200 grid tied inverter was any good to me. He was skipping it of not. Having just fitted the op system. Is there anything I could do with this inverter? Is it worth bothering setting up with its own panels or would it not generate enough to warrant the install?

It's been a while since my set up. My question is. After sending the relevant paperwork to the DNO. Do you get a response to confirm your g98 registration or some sort of notifications of receipt. If yes, approx how long does it normally take

Yes, and can be slow due to volume of applications

Ffs there's always one.
As from the OP my set-up is on my garage. We got new neighbors at the bottom of the garden this year. He built a bar area which is approx 18 inch higher than my garage (no big deal) except I notice my back string of panels were not producing and leccy this morning. After looking through the bedroom window. The low sun level means this cast a shadow onto the last 8-10 inch of the last row of panels.. meh not much I can do. I either move the panels to a different part of the roof or put up with loosing a couple of hour of winter sun.
What I did not know was. The 6 ft gap between his bar and his adjoining neighbors fence he has planted a tree. This is already to the height of his bar. So within a few years I'm guessing I will have shading problems ☹️...

I've still not received confirmation from DNO regards my g98 application. I know you said they are slow Binky but 10 month. Wow
