Just recieved a call from a UK mobile from ERG ELECTRICS. They asked if I was able to install an electric oven today.
Seeing as I'm in the middle of CU change, a test & inspection and it's about 30° and I'm not rushing I said no! Having extracted myself from an understairs cupboard to answer the mobile, I wasn't best pleased anyway.
I was then asked about tomorrow.
I asked about prices & billing etc and told it is standard 30 billing but no mention of labour rates. They may phone back this afternoon.

Has anyone had experience doing any work for them? Can't say I've heard of then to be honest.
A quick Google search shows they appear to be a type of agent.

It looks like they are an intermediate company, someone needs an electrical job doing, they say they can do it, they phone round electricians in the area (It claims it is a nationwide company)

However they have lots of negative reviews, people not turning up (That I guess is because they could not find someone to do the job) From your perspective, I would suggest you need it in writing what you are to do, I would suggest it is too much grief to bother with, they just want the job done, so will tell you anything in order to get you to do the job.

Yes inclined to agree, not really interested. Judging by the way they work, it'll not be straight forward. I did ask for an email outlining what's involved but he wasn't forthcoming.

I've got enough to do where I am, for one of my own grateful customers, who has bought a house of problems that need sorting.

Part of what I found back in March when I went to change some broken halogens and install replacement LED under cabinet strip lights. No Zs reading led to this. No cpc had ever been connected on a new kitchen and bathroom extension, about 14 years old....

I had one yesterday from 01613941169
They received my standard

"It's £750 cleared funds in advance before I set off and I will reimburse any remainder after admin fees within 30 days. Or I will stop work when the £750 has been used up"
Think I'll try that approach if he phones back, See how desperate they are !

Their Trust Pilot reviews are rather amusing :)
They all follow the same theme. Yeah he'll arrive at 11:00, 4 hours later still waiting!

And then £135 +VAT an hour they charge, can see why customers get upset. Reckon I'd be lucky to see ¼ of that..

ill jump in and say companies like that are not always bad - i do work for similar type of companies. they operate 'nationally' but mostly use local subcontractors. i set the rates i charge for callouts & repairs etc, not them. most of the work is a bit more specialist than just your normal electrics though

the end customer is usually a large company though
