Hi
I'm replacing the rose with a light fitting but confused about some of the wiring. From the ceiling I have the following (in addition to the earths)

3 Red
1 Brown
1 Blue
1 Black

The light fitting has blue and brown (plus earth)

I've been advised to connect the 3 red into a terminal block but not connect them to the light. I'm assuming I connected the brown and blue from the ceiling to the brown and blue from the light. Is this correct and what do I do with the black wire from the ceiling?

ThanksIMG_3860.jpegIMG_3862.jpeg

The 2 reds and the brown on the middle connection neeed to be connected together these are the live in, looped live out and the live feed to the switch
The black and blue cables in the connector on the right should be connected to the neutral on the new fitting
The red wire in the connector on the left is the switched live which connects to the live on the new fitting
All that leaves then is the earth to connect

You actually have:-

1x twin & earth with Brown & Blue conductors: Live & neutral
1x twin & earth with Red & Black conductors: Live & neutral
1x twin & earth with Red & Black(sleeved red) conductors: Live & switched live.

You have been advised incorrectly about just joining all the reds together.

It looks like that light fitting has been butchered a bit?
Weren't all the blues & browns already connected to each other?
I cant believe it came with those large Wagos?

Thanks, The brown and blues from the light fitting were all loose and instructions said connect to the wagos, and then there's another brown blue cable (at top of second picture) that it says connect to wago and then ceiling via the connector block

Great, thanks very much

I stopped using those big chunky grey Wago's years ago in favour of the slimmer 221 lever connectors...
(gives you more space inside your connection box / accessory.)

Or.. if all of your flexible wires are tinned like the ones on the black flex that you mentioned....
Its possible you could have used a miniature 5-way push fit, as the conductors may be strong enough to just push in....
(which saves even more space!)

As for the final connection to the ceiling wiring...
Screw terminal connectors are just a big pain in the rear in my book...
(That's another thing I stopped using many many years ago !!)

I always make sure my ceiling wiring has some permutation of the grey or white lighting connectors for my Live, Neutral & Earth to be quickly and easily 'spring-fit' into..

No faffaing around trying to hold a light fitting, conductor, connector, while you tighten a screw joint, up a step-ladder!!

In my opinion the 101 & 112's are your friends with ceiling light connections!

I often get the feeling that some people think that Wago only do the olde grey 2,3 & 5 way levers?
whereas the reality is quite different!
