    Hi all, I have a question.... Does anyone know of a fire rated emergency mini downlighter that has been specified for use within a metal web (posi joist) ceiling? Fire rating must be 60 or 90min due to joist depth. I am struggling to find anything other than converting a fire rated standard...

    Castlec MCBs - alternatives?

    True but thats on Wylex, Crabtree etc etc.  We are not held accountable for a product recall, but we are if we install a second hand item - thats my point. Cheers for that - but they dont have any though!

    TBH, not much to do with that. Very difficult to test MCB breaking currents without very expensive kit.  Manufacturers warranty their own products in their own DBs but not if re-located.  This means that if you are installing second hand MCBs you cant know that it operates within its required...

    Thought you would especially as its second hand.  Always worth being very sure that you install something that works as its is out of manufacturers warranty.  Saves any "issues" later should it fail in its job.

    i assume you tested that the MCB still worked and fired at the right rating?  What kit did you use to do that?

    Yeah, I know - hence the post......... Wont go down the second hand path - that way leads to ruin.......... Looks like they get a shiny new DB, with full RCBO and SPD protection instead.  Frustrating though that they couldn't have had the additional circuits protected for about £10.00.........

    Difficult due to DB location (GF toilet, small area and clients won't be pleased as there is no space for it to be fitted).  If they haven't re-branded will need to be a replacement  DB............
