    Adding a cylinder thermostat

I only ask because I have seen gas engineers do it when they wire the sender to the boiler for wireless programmable room stats

    Adding a cylinder thermostat

    That's why I was asking

    Adding a cylinder thermostat

What I was really asking was if the stat was double insulated would it require an earth and could the earth wire in twin and earth cable be marked up as live and used?

    Adding a cylinder thermostat

OK Thanks for that. I'll wait to see exactly what I've got.

    Adding a cylinder thermostat

I've been looking at how to wire one of these. If the stat is double insulated like the DRAYTON HTS3 CYLINDER STAT (95630) could I use twin & earth to wire it, and is +/- 8K tolerance like the HTS3 acceptable?

Thanks for all your replies. When I move in I'll have a closer look at what there is in light of all of your comments :)

    Adding a cylinder thermostat

Hello My new house to be has a conventional domestic heating system with a gas fired boiler for heating the radiators and water in a storage cylinder. It's all controlled from a Hive controller that is fitted to a wall in the hall. The current owner has the hot water to come on for an hour in...

Sunworks DB1C Dual Battery Charger Controller - what do the symbols mean?

Thanks, just tried your suggestion binky but it hasn't made any difference. The solar doesn't appear to be routed through the control panel but wired as in the diagram. It does seem to be objecting to the engine running though.

Sunworks DB1C Dual Battery Charger Controller - what do the symbols mean?

Does anyone know about these controllers? We have one in our motorhome but do not have an installation or user manual for it. It works ok in so far as it keeps the leisure batteries ( 2 x 12V lead acid) and cab battery topped up as in the photo but the display show 'B1 FAULT P' when the engine...

Reliable Installer in the North West

Or you could take your wife's advice and 'forget the entire thing'. That's what I did after looking into what was to be a simple and straightforward installation. The sums just didn't add up for me and if the Government was to de-couple gas and electric prices we will be awash with cheap green...

Why do I need an MOP? (Apart from cleaning the floor)

Solax Inverter Hanging onto grid: Query

I can imagine that this is really annoying. It seems strange that 'power consumption' doesn't seem to be mentioned in inverter specs like in most other electrical devices, unless I'm missing something. From what I've read on this forum a power draw of a few watts is normal.

How to calculate the generation in kWh of the PV Panels

Interesting video Bob. I'm going to have hours of fun!

How to calculate the generation in kWh of the PV Panels

So are you paid a fixed price under the FIT scheme? Under SEG a supplier could simply pull the rug from under at any time and pay you 0.1p/kWh if they liked?

How to calculate the generation in kWh of the PV Panels

A graphic. If there was a 50% grant from the Government I would probably do it.

How to calculate the generation in kWh of the PV Panels

Thanks Bob & binky, To know that the calculators are usually based on old specs is helpful The problem for me is that in order to generate enough electricity daily to cover the worst of the winter I would probably have to cover both of my SE facing roofs with panels. I can get 16 x 395 =...

How to calculate the generation in kWh of the PV Panels

Yes, using -50° instead of 130° gives c.4000kWh/yr which sounds impressive until you look at what is being generated over winter which is when we need it. Summer time it's there in spades when we don't need it. I'm afraid solar is a non-starter for me, but thanks for all your help.

How to calculate the generation in kWh of the PV Panels

Bob, Have you checked the PVGIS system against your actual figures to see how they compare? I've just used it to calculate the annual output for a 4.8kW array that I was planning for my roof and it gives 2738 kWh pa. A national company has told me to expect 4000 kWh per annum and that this...

Will a solar pv system that is grid-tied work during a power cut

Very interesting. I'll post a pic of how I think my set-up should look once I've figured it out (how to post a pic that is)
