Swapping an MCB on a Hager Consumer Unit

changing MCB' to higher rating for the guests whilst you're not around? guessing its the inlaws you're trying to kill & a nice insurance claim when the house burns down due to overloaded cables?

    Electric Gates

ground loop forget about it. can't detect people only vehicles. photocell on its own is non compliant. it needssafety edges. and i would also take a guess that the hinges are offset and the gap will get smaller during opening. another failure

    Electric Gates

its possible its the motor, there in the ground. they get wet and do fail and looking at the wiring in the control board, id say you gate is also non compliant with standards and shouldn't be put back into service. no safety edges connected and can pretty much guarantee it will fail a force test

you mean 'its not the answer i wanted, but thanks anyway'. sounds about right.

    Stainless steel kitchen worktops

so.. if its class 2 then it can't become live. if its class 1 then it'll be earthed. end result of a fault would be the same if the bench was earthed or not

    Texecom Veritas R8 issues

texecom has gone downhill the last few years. tech support too. used to be decent kit, not so much now

Full rewiring: old wires left in

well if you want the place destroyed even more to rip all the old cables out then you could. usually would be cut back though

    Brain Fog

no reg but there is a note in appendix 15 recommending fixed loads over 2kw to be on their own circuit

    Dry knuckle test

any decent electrician will have a MCB lockout. if you're not going to get that out to lock off the circuit, then you probably wouldnt put a lock through a uilt in lockoff either

    Extractor fan connections

why no earth on one of them? which is the supply & fan? either your circuit supplying the fan has the earth cut off or you have the connectors the wrong way, usually the one without the earth would be the socket / supply, the one with the earth would be the plug

Would the following change technically work? Or will I blow my house up if power it returned to the system?!

the switch isn't suitable for the wiring you have. you need to either replace the wiring or the switch

    Supply To Flats

you can have your own private meters to the flats however there are some laws around the charging - basically you can't make a profit from it and only sell it for what it costs to buy it would be best to get DNO / meter company involved and get individual meters so each flat is responsible for...

Off peak supply and on peak in one board

and this raises even more questions... you say housing association. so why do you have an installation with no RCD protection? why has this not already been checked previously and dealt with? how many other properties do you have that have not had an EICR / remedials carried out? what was the...

13A Hob and 45A Oven isolators, confusing.

why? if the hob has a max rating of 13a then the cable cannot be overloaded. and in almost all circumstances, 32a fault protection on a 2.5 is also good, so why would it be in trouble? what about every 2.5 spur from a 32a MCB? are they in trouble too?

Off peak supply and on peak in one board

quick temp repair you've just got to do what you can with what you've got. but you should have also been well aware that it was the wrong board and will need replaced with the correct one as soon as practical, instead of asking how to bodge the existing board you have
