    Just a Quickie

hi, according to everyone on here, only the new part/alteration needs to be to the 17th - so in the case of more down lights this won't require an rcd as you won't be burying wires in walls? O.

    Be naughty... Immersion Circuit

This is what I was wondering... I'm just curious.... I can understand why the regs advise using a dedicated circuit, as you could be using 50% of your ring supply most of the time for the immersion - if it was fed off the ring But if all capacities/ratings, tripping times, disconnection...

    Be naughty... Immersion Circuit

All, I'm sure some have done it, and I know its "against" regs, but... If you have a dedicated circuit for an immersion, run in 2.5, fused to 16A or 20A, but you need a 3A or 5A supply for a pump or boiler, how many have just taken a feed from the immersion circuit (assuming all the saefety...

    25mm 1 Gang and 2 Gang patresses

Hi guys, I am after surface boxes which will accept 25mm round conduit. All the ones I have seen only take 20mm conduit (with knockouts) Thanks, O.

    How would you do it???

Hi all, I have been asked to wire a central heating system (y Plan)... simple enough.. but... Its one boiler, with one 3 port.... this is where it starts to get interesting... 2 controllers/programmers and two room stats. Basically it one two separate accomodations fed by one boiler. The...

    SDS drill - deal

I've got a Metabo equivalent - cost about 300 quid - Complete load of crap! Its broke twice, clutch slips all the time :( Now started to think budget drills are best - after one year throw them away! O.

    earth leakage measurement

Hi there, If you don't want to use a clamp meter, then the only other way is a milliAmp meter in series with the earth (you could use a multimeter for this - assuming it has a mA range). O.

    Need a new label printer.

Depends what you are after... I have both a cheap (sub 20 quid) brother, and a Rhino (Dymo) 5000 If you asked me if the Rhino was worth it - I'd say for normal lables no! But if you need to use better tape and have more special options (fixed label widths, sequential numbers, etc) then yes...

    Any ideas??

Hi there, Thats what I was thinking... still not cheap with MK gear O.

    Any ideas??

Hi guys, The client has only one spare RCD way on the CU. I need to check if there is a spare non rcd'ed way (potentially use RCBO) but will need to keep separate neutrals - starts getting more interesting and expensive The first outside double socket (and requested light switch location) is...

    Any ideas??

Hi y'all Been asked to quote/look at a job... nothing difficult. Client would like a feed running into his detached gym/workshop, with some outdoor sockets on the way. That part is ok, 4mm SWA radial feeding into some masterseal D/S and then continuing to his workshop, into 2 sockets, and...

hi there, Cable in wall/depth reg still applies, unless its protected..... The only difference for a distribution circuit is 5 second disconnection time. O.

    Heat resistant cable

Guys, I completely agree - I'm all for a proper job, I come from a commercial background, with nice tray work, baskets, trunking, etc. This crappy domestic job has a 28mm pipe running close to exposed beam ceiling, where I can't get trunking under the pipe or above. I wouldn't rely on sticky...

    Heat resistant cable

several reasons: Wall is asbestos sheeting, and i don't want to drill it. There is no room/straight path for trunking. I can cable tie the flex above/behind the 28mm pipes so you can't see it. Agree its not best, but any actual reason not to? Cheers, O.

    Heat resistant cable

Hi all, Whats everyones opinion on cable tieing HR cable to central heating/hot water pipes? O.

    This will test you!!!

All, I am after a plastic cover/bezel/lense to cover an IR receiver I have built/modified. I have a 20mm round hole, behind which is the receiver. I need something like the tinted red plastic you have on remote control units. Does anyone know where I can get a flat piece which will cover a...
