I've tried to give the cables a pull but as normal theirs no length  as for the switch theirs just one twin red and black there

I do, yes when i took down the old fitting I only removed the cables from the connecter block, one cable is black one is blue which is still in the connecter block now. i only disconnected the fitting side of the connectors 

I've got a photo of how the wiring is now but I'm not sure how to upload it?
