    Supply to metal shed.

I would suggest just removing paint in an area then attaching earth there-then establish contnuity with all other metal surfaces like the door and supp bond any which arent touching frame of shed-shouldnt be that bad/

Changing mcb type b to rcbo type c

On site guide page 21 3.6.1 rcds are required when earth fault loop impedance is too high to provide the desired disconnection time. Though it does give an example of a tt system would it not be ok in this case as an rcbo is essentially an rcd. I dont know im just a novice with a good book LOL

    Cat5 install.

I dunno if its any good but tlc catalogue has cat 5 cable in back of it which has four pair double intertwinned in one cable. But it might not be exactly right. page 252

    Rccd or Rcd?

Yeah I appreciate an rcbo is different and can be used instead of an rcd and mcb-just wasnt sure about rccd or rcd.

    D.I.Y. sparks

Im confused here-whilst i realise bs7671 isnt statutory-supposedly part p is a legal requirment enforceable by law-so what gives LOL

    Rccd or Rcd?

Of course I know what an rcd does and im sure I know what an rccd does-both offer residual current deection-right? But what is the difference? I have rccd fitted to my cu, which appear to be 3 pole each covering 3 circuits. Clarification would be great. Martin

    Niceic assesment

Might just do my own job as a major job and hope I get some other jobs asap to cover the minor job-just the previous poster said had to give postcodes upon registration? Anyway. I take it they will give you a chance to get it sorted as green said

    Niceic assesment

The other thing I just thought of is when youve done a job at a customers house you are hardly likely to be able to gain easy access to it afterwards lol-like they give a stuff if your being assesed-its not heir business is it. How can you guarantee access on the day of your assesment?

    Niceic assesment

Thats bloody ridiculous-someone starting out might not be able to ge the work to do at 2 seperate postcodes. Its ok if you have a neighbour who is willing to le you. Tradeskills4u lead us o believe after doing part p can start small business-but wihout the assesmen already behind you and a...

    Niceic assesment

I notice from nic website a new application must consist of at least 2 jobs one in the last 12 monhs-if it is just my own work at home will a cu upgrade to 17th and say an external lighting circuit to garden or even a circuit to garage seperately be ok as two do you think.

    Niceic assesment

Oh i see-after my assesment. Cool. But what if I were to fail my assesment and would then be without a certificate. Sorry if im being dim.
  15. G

    Niceic assesment

Ok mate-but would I be legal to fill out the certificate before being assesed. Might sound strange but its all bloody confusing.

    Niceic assesment

When I get round to doing my assesment for part p, if i use say a rewire of my own house as the subject, do I need bc involved before hand or is it ok to do it and just use it as an assesment and then if they pass me sign it off then.

    Self employed and employed

Surely just keep full time job as main job and pay tax as you are inform tax office of status and they will just deduct taxs from self emplyed without any allowance-then noone need know except the tax man.

    Outside lighting cable choice

I didnt mean me personally-but a layman after fitting-as I thought half of the things we do to protect the public is to protect them from their own stupidity.

    5A lamp circuits

I thought-whilst you can have as many spurs as you like from a ring main you were limited to one spur from each socket-and this would be a radial spur with many sockets from it.

    Outside lighting cable choice

I wasnt suggesting working on a live circuit-but meant if someone drilled through by accident or something whilst being off the ground. I thought it was 17th edition to consider the uv and weathering of installations-but if you guys say flex is ok-what about an installation of say wall lights...
