Wall switch with no known function

That makes sense. I asked a plumber (who says he also does minor electrical work) this question when he was in my kitchen a while ago. He lives a few doors down from me in the same house type as mine so same layout and everything. He said he also had this same switch in his kitchen, but he...

Wall switch with no known function

Thanks to everyone for their input, much appreciated! One of the cables coming out of the cover plate saying "Danger 230 volts" goes to the thermostat on the front of the hot water cylinder. The cable coming from the switch saying 'immersion' is going to the immersion heating element at the top...

    Moving a light switch

I have never seen this product before, it's pretty neat and it has got me thinking of the many uses it can have.  Thanks for posting that link, this would be a much easier solution!

Wall switch with no known function

I don't remember that episode, unless it was the one with the smoke alarm that wouldn't stop beeping! I took a photo but I don't know how to attach/insert it. We have had the switch in the off (red light not on) since we moved in and have not found anything that doesn't work. it having a red...

    Moving a light switch

How easy is it to move a light switch in a timber framed house built in 1999? The switch is on the internal face of the wall to the side of patio doors, I want the switch to be on the other side of the patio doors. The switch operates an external security light central above the patio doors...

Wall switch with no known function

Hi, In my kitchen I have a switch on the wall with a red light to indicate when it is on.  I have been living in the house for three years and I have no idea what it turns on or off.  My smart meter read out doesn't change when I flip the switch (but the red light does illuminate) so I wondered...
