the only wiring at the cylinder is for the immersion, there must be one on the boiler. I will have a good look but still going to push for the port valve

thanks mate i think i will push it. the way it works now i am a bit dubious about altering it so it could be a case of get it done properly or leave it as it is. is there a chance that the cylinder could boil up as it is, if say he has his heating on for a long period?

my plumber mate says it prob wolud not be a big job to fit a port valve, also fit a cylinder state, does that sound like best option?

like zee says do all your test befor changing the board that will highlight any faults if its all ok then rcd wont trip if not then faults need sorting befor cu change,

what i am getting at is if they dont want to pay or have disruption then could it be left on one ring, are you adding/moving a couple of sockets or putting new points in for washer, dish washer, dryer, plinth heaters ect

another thought is plenty of houses with only 1 ring final, mine included, 3 bed 3 people living here, i could install another 20 sockets in my kitchen but would not have anymore appliances in use than i do now, you need to weigh up what they can pay, what they need and what they want. running...

good idear to get wiring checked over befor decorating ect, many people dont. when the spark comes too check it he will easily be able to work out the cable size and replace your 16amp with a 20 or 32 amp mcb after considering other factors like length of circuit ect
