Odd event - Growatt SPH inverter

Thats good news that you've only suffered a glitch, you can put your mind to rest :)

Odd event - Growatt SPH inverter

I resolved the issue by fitting an additional inverter and battery, the inverter is a Victron Multiplus II and that happily takes over at the times when Growatt is testing and calibrating, Another inverter I looked at was SolarEdge, I'm glad I didn't go that route though, I have since learned...

Odd event - Growatt SPH inverter

Growatt SPH series of inverters have an annoying bug that happens around the time when Solar PV starts to generate and when Solar PV stops generating. Growatt claim the inverter is going through a self test and calibration routine, I say that's baloney but the net result is power is taken from...

    Car radiator fan vent.

A car radiator fan should be designed to cope with a lot more water than condensation!!!

Trade Garage & van sale coming soon

I volunteered for L.I.V.E.S. (Lincolnshire Volunteer Emergency Service) a few years ago, they were very grateful for retirees to join and help the emergency services to help others. I worked my way up the ladder and became a trainer and intermediate responder for LIVES. We are controlled by the...

    Using Batteries

My system (Growatt) used to do exactly the same. Mine had been configured initially for zero export which causes an issue if you want zero import. I have set my system up so that one inverter (Victron) maintains a steady 20w of export as its target and I allow exports from my Growatt, it's no...

    Using Batteries

What make and model of inverter? does it use a power meter or CT for sensing? What are the export settings? If youre talking about Octopus Mini as the gadget, you can get updates every 5 seconds or so.

Electric Radiators... are there any independent reviews!

Very true but to counter the argument, it’s a much smaller hole needed in the wall, a neater unit inside and installation is dead easy, join the pipes, vacuum the lines, release the gas job done. About 30 minutes per unit, an hour at the most.

Electric Radiators... are there any independent reviews!

Me personally I would go for conventional split units rather than the all in one you describe. The noise of the compressor and condenser fan is moved outside, efficiency is also improved.

Electric Radiators... are there any independent reviews!

Stick a couple of AC units in there or even a dual split. Save £££££ in running costs and would be ideal in summer for cooling, winter for heating. Low current requirements too, probably no cable upgrade needed.

    Monitoring for maximum demand

Thanks for sharing the video, a lot has changed since the start of my electrical apprenticeship in the Steelworks. I also watched the linked video of meter tails above 3 metres which is relevant to me at the moment, I'm converting the upper floors of my retail premises into flats and the...

    climate change is natural?

Absolutely correct, if we could look after our own bit then our efforts would be worthwhile but the way the rest of the world ios it's a bit like peeing in the ocean to raise the water level. And there is the issue, we all have to work together to resolve this issue, we all need to help each...

    climate change is natural?

To hell with everybody else? :):) Get a drive at the likes of a Taycan or Tesla Plaid of any flavour and I would challenge your view.

    climate change is natural?

A Defender at 25 years old, 75% of it will have rusted away :):):) and gone back into the ground. The Defender and vehicles like it are the exception is the driving world and not everyone wants to drive one nor needs to drive one. Certainly the original Defender is in a different league to the...

    climate change is natural?

That has been my practice too until the one we've just bought for my wife, this time we bought new. From Top Gear:- "The fallacy runs that it’s always best to keep old petrol cars going because it takes a lot of energy to build a car. But actually, of the energy and CO2 a petrol car is...

    climate change is natural?

The options are simple, PCP it or buy used. Alternatively, buy a used EV, much longer lifespan than any ICE vehicle due to less moving parts etc.

    climate change is natural?

Sorry, that’s rubbish. Yes EV’s are more expensive to buy but much cheaper to run. If you look around there are some very competitively priced EV’s too. The same can be said for ICE vehicles, check between UK and USA for example.

    climate change is natural?

But the above is the same for all of us, none of us can afford to go green so where do we go, how do we do it? You could argue it needs to be government funded but where do governments get their cash? thats right, from us. It's more difficult to prove something hasnt happened than when it...
