    climate change is natural?

Mmmm, sorry, I think you did or you inferred that "they got fed up of argueing with idiots" Thats the kind of problem though, youre banging the drum that we should be doing sometheing / doing more but then say the above statement. Log burners produce 465 times more toxic air pollution than gas...

    12v dc led strip dimming

Yes with one caveat here, the 12v strip has to have resistors for current limiting not solid state drivers (most do use resistors). Dimming is easy, just a PWM controller will do it reliably, make one easily with a 555, mosfet, pot and a capacitor (look on Youtube).

    climate change is natural?

BINKY, You seem to have a real bee in your bonnet about global warming and seem to hold the view that people who disagree are idiots / deniers etc (as can be seen in this thread). For me, I'm not 100% in agreement that it's man made, the video's were certainly thought provoking. If you are a...

VAT or no VAT on solar?

Well it's not months really, generally 30 to 60 day account for paying a supplier and VAT is usually done for a quarter although monthly is an option, HMRC pay back the VAT due within a couple of days usually, realistically the VAT is likely to be sorted in less than 30 days. It's not how the...

VAT or no VAT on solar?

I've been in business for over 30 years and VAT registered all of that time. I really dont see how they would put the invoice bottom line (inc VAT) straight across to the customer, I dont see how that would go through the books as it were, nowadays you have to use accounting software that is...

VAT or no VAT on solar?

2 years ago when it was first announced, I had placed my order for my solar install. I asked them about the government announcement and they removed the VAT from my bill. Surely they must NOT charge the VAT on the equipment and installation, if the laws says it's 0%.

VAT or no VAT on solar?

You are correct, here's the government document from HMRC https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vat-on-energy-saving-materials-and-heating-equipment-notice-7086#installations-of-energy-saving-materials

    Stainless steel kitchen worktops

You absolutely should. It's a bit like talking with my Mrs, I often explain if something could be taken two ways, it was the other way I was meaning :):):)

    Funny signs thread 😂

After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, Canadian scientists found Traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that Their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago. Not to be outdone by their neighbours, in the weeks that followed, an...

    climate change is natural?

No brainer then really. You end up with the worst of all worlds on this one, Hybrid = Not good. Were sworn to secrecy and non disclosure etc so I cant give you any data, I believe it will eventually be sold but I have no idea when. That must be very satisfying. Agreed I have seen them stop...

    climate change is natural?

Just out of interest did you do that for the green implications or reduced running costs? I went EV totally to reduce running costs, the green aspect is a bonus for me. Hybrid or plug in hybrid? I think the planets worst enemy are the diesel 4x4's that never tow anything or go offroad...

    climate change is natural?

I watched this one and it certainly is thought provoking, I had always believed in climate change but I didn't accept that it was all man made and clearly there is an underlying climate cycle but man is making a big contribution to the effect. The real issue is what are we all doing about it...

    Gardtec 800 Series

The OP said they wanted to disable it completely.

    Gardtec 800 Series

u/s = unserviceable so yes, depleted if you like It depends on what cable eg if it's the mains supply going in or one of the alarm cables etc. If it's the mains then make it safe, isolate the supply, if it's the alarm cables, tape it up, disconnect the alarm battery and mains supply, all good.
  18. johnb2713

    Gardtec 800 Series

It shouldnt have stopped the alarm turning the power off, this suggests that your battery is u/s. The siren / bell would normally have it's own battery and will continue to sound even when the wires to the panel are cut, assuming that it doesnt have it's own battery or it's battery is also u/s...

    Supply To Flats

I have some retail premises in our local town, the upper three floors are being converted into flats (all planning permission etc in place). They dont have any utility supplies at all. Is there an easy way for me to supply the flats from my retail premises below with a prepayment meter that can...
