    Solar Inverter Metering Query

Looking at some of the prices on Fogstar for their EVE based packaged batteries it's not worth the effort to fully DIY it, that said, I really did enjoy my little project. If you do decided to go the DIY route, if you want any laser cut frame parts just give me a yell, material and post cost for...

    Octopus billing problems

What ever makes you comfortable is good. I do download all of my data to analyse the performance etc of my solar and battery systems. It makes for interesting reading (sad I know but I'm retired now :)).

    Octopus billing problems

I have been an Octopus customer for well over 6 years now, not once have they deleted data and they have always been helpful when I've requested longer data dumps than I could get online. They are far from being a 'shady' operator.

    I’ve got a good feeling about 2024

You know what it’s like when good things happen, the feeling of elation, stand up straight, head in the clouds etc. I have a great feeling for 2024, look at this for a great start to the new year. 520,000 euros, that’s not a bad start 🤪

    "Badged" consumer units .....

Problem is the Nanny State here and no common sense. I absolutely agree with you that a complete unit replacement is ridiculous, compliant but ridiculous.

    optimum battery size

With some of the Octopus tariffs available this all becomes a no brainer. Export any excess you have at 15p kWh, import off peak as low as 7.5p kWh. I can't honestly see the logic in running the system how you are.

    optimum battery size

Do you have a tariff that gives you off peak energy at a lower cost eg Octopus GO? If so I would adjust the charging schedule to charge your battery to 90% for the full duration of the off peak time (for GO that would be 00:30 to 04:30). The house loads would all be supplied at the off peak...

    Hi, Joining for some advice.

    Hi, Joining for some advice.

I personally would turn it around the other way, look at your daily consumption figures and get enough battery storage to cover that plus a backup margin. Look at your peak consumption and use that to size the inverter. That creates a battery system that can run the house all day at off peak...

    Hi, Joining for some advice.

380w on the HC version ? This would put me off though: "Enphase University certification is required to commission IQ8 Microinverters in systems with backup (Sunlight Backup, Home Essentials Backup, and Full Energy Independence)."

    Light Switch Warranty Periods...?

He must have a wonderful life if the guarantee on light switches is high on his worry list. Thread now closed

    Xmas Day Consumption ..............

We managed with just 2 kWh of import with batteries and solar feeding the 29 kWh of consumption. Really happy with it all. Not running the heatpump at the minute due to low price of gas.

Growatt charging from grid or solar problem

I understand, just from my experience with Growatt this phenomenon happens just after sunrise and just before sunset type levels of light. It's bloody annoying and I have struggled when one of the saving sessions was announced to get my Growatt battery charged before the session, in the end I...

    Hi, Joining for some advice.

I was in a similar situation 2 years ago and finally settled on a quote from a company which seemed to make most sense. The planning and installation was done with a prompt and efficient workforce and the system worked well. I did however find some shortcomings. The inverter (Growatt SPH6000)...
