    Crimping Wire Rope

After I started the thread I found enough to order a few bits to make up a few prototypes. Thanks for people's help. If it looks popular then I think I'd just get them made up with SS crimps. I've got a cheap hydraulic crimper that should compress the copper crimps well. Might make up a loop and...

    Crimping Wire Rope

Thanks. What about galvanic reactions? I suppose if this works in principal then I could get them manufactured with SS crimps throughout for strength. Most of what we use is stainless. Discolouration not an issue in itself.

    Crimping Wire Rope

Gents, Anyone do much work with wire rope? I'm looking to invent something for birthing cows that doesn't currently exist. I was going to make it out of plastic coated wire rope. It will be going into cows lady bits so needs to be easily cleaned. I was going with SS wire rope, but can I use...

That won't do. Too short, also not clear how wired and how many cores. I think I have something suitable on its way

    Headphone equivalent cable

This is what I want to do: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic2972.html?highlight=kickpanel To get Spotify playlists off my phone. Your solution is easy but bulky and intrusive. A 3.5mm headphone jack and later a socket put somewhere sympathetic is neater and more subtle. The higher spec...

    Headphone equivalent cable

@PPP that's no use as there is absolutely no auxiliary supply in the car. I need to cut off a redundant plug in the loom and solder the cable in. @Blue Duck I can get a bluetooth receiver if I want, but it needs an aux connection to plug in to the stereo. I do have a Parrot, but that is calls...

    Headphone equivalent cable

For the money I'm tempted to try. I guess to run it somewhere neat I need between 2 and 3 meters. I suppose the rougher option is just to feed a 3.5mm jack plug out of the centre dash somewhere and strip the other end and solder in to the plug in the passenger foot well. It just feels 'rough'...

    Headphone equivalent cable

Do we think this would be 3 core throughout, or is the sheath likely to be drawn into a 3rd core at the end? http://cpc.farnell.com/unbranded/3-5strld-free15m/audio-lead-3-5-plug-to-tin-ends/dp/AV16352 This just looks rough...

    Headphone equivalent cable

I want to run an aux input in my car (land-rover Discovery 3) I know where I can pick up left, right and ground for stereo aux input. I can find a suitable stereo panel mounted 3.5mm socket. http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg08285/3-5mm-jack-socket-stereo/dp/AV15152 I just don't know...

    Per item PAT test charge?

The advantage of testing a computer lead that is never touched I agree is negligible, but having the tester there when the clippers get dropped etc has been useful. It has found genuine faults that could have posed a hazard, but then I test things based on risk.

I qualified as a PAT tester to do stuff at work.............. :D

    Air rifle / shooting

Can you still get Rustins plastic coating? Very hard wearing. Naturally glossy, but you can take it back with some fine steel wool or even a pan scourer. I have a Turkish springer air rifle, used to have a couple of pre-charged ones, but never used them once I got proper guns.

That was close, nearly had to appoint a debt collector.

I don't know if this is helpful, but I will tell you how we deal with bills. We are a small business with 9 employees. Bills arrive and go in a folder. Once a month they are gone through by part time book-keeper and either cheques are written on they go in a pile for BACS payments (somewhere...

I work with cattle. I prefer them to people. I would take that as an insult to cattle.

    Tinning Flex for Hob connection

Something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CIMCO-press-pliers-crimp-tool-No-101906-set-3500-Uniso-ferrules-RAACO-Box-/391014989328?hash=item5b0a4f3e10:g:kZ8AAOSwiYFXJRnX I'm tempted and I definitely don't need one!
