Blimey!!.. That rush-hour traffic looks horrendous!! Just think how much longer it will take to get to the job with all that congestion!?

Reposting a near identical question will not change any previous answers in my opinion...? So I will repeat my answer as you have repeated the question.. I have merged the two threads. If you are running a business then the ONLY sensible charge is your hourly rate x the number of hours...

I wasn't aware that they did one... But on a totally unscientific comparison, using Google and searching random suppliers... CEF list the Scolmore @ £15.16 inc VAT.. https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/506279-50a-dp-pull-switch-with-mechanical-on-off-neon-c-w-pattress-white but the...

Additional observation/comment.... If you are working on a shower that requires a 10.0mm T&E... I would rather peel off all of my skin... then try to heat shrink it back on with a hot air gun set to max... Rather than attempt to terminate 2x 10.0mm T&E's into a single gang 47mm deep pattress box!

A key difference is that all of the connections are part of the base that is fixed.. So once you have terminated your incoming & outgoing cables they do not have to be strained, bent, moved, formed while you are putting the cover on. Hence the joints you have just made off are much more...

If that is a wall mounted switch and it is only the size of a single gang faceplate, Then it needs replacing with a pattress box, and face plate that are equivalent to the width of a double gang box!! Or if using ceiling cord-pull switches it needs to be a Crabtree.. Anything else is stupidity...

If you are running a business then the ONLY sensible charge is your hourly rate x the number of hours... However, if you are a goodwill charity then just pick any low number so as not to offend anybody! Side-Note:- Once I have identified a problem that is clearly a bit more than just a 1hour...

    Tesla charging issue

Not my field either... (And basically I do not pursue any work in this sector)... But I assume Hypervolt is not a Tesla specific charger unit? Back in Oct/Nov 2019 I did connect a Tesla charger that a customer had bought themselves.. Something like one of these...

A pleasant surprise this week 😉

Over the years myself and Mrs Spec Loc have been secondary named drivers on our Children's car insurance... Which for some reason reduced their premiums by a reasonable amount, even though we hardly ever.. (if at all).. drove their cars?? Insurance companies seem to like having some more...

Ways of making Lutron brighter - LED or Halogen?

Actually I did read the thread.. Hence my reply, as you were repeatedly mentioning watts & volts.. And made no reference to any of the existing or proposed Lumen or Kelvin ratings? (nor 'beam angle' for that matter.. which all have impact on the apparent light output) It can be difficult...

Is it OK to DIY and make safe dangerous wiring in a bathroom?

As a side note: domestic dwellings do not have any 'HV'. The incoming supply is LV., (i.e. not exceeding 1000v AC or 1500v DC.) You have a mix of Low voltage and Extra low voltage wiring.

As well as leaflets.. do you have any children / grandchildren involved at any local schools..? Plus, my wife has been a chair of the Governors at one school, which flagged...

Oh my.. Gosh.. Wow.. You must be getting a bit out of touch John...? Surely it is quiet on here because everyone is now very busy reading all of the recently published manifesto documents? and it is quite a lot of reading to do.. So no time for trivial posting on forums.. (Even if the hall...

    Non-Notifiable work

An additional thought when considering your costings... Don't forget that some types of work require multiple visits while you wait for other trades to complete their part of the work... Even with non-notifiable work, 'First-fix' & 'Second-fix' visits can often be needed and sometimes the...

Ways of making Lutron brighter - LED or Halogen?

Erm.. you need to start looking at the "Lumens" and "Kelvin" ratings of existing lamps -vs- proposed new lamps to assess the difference in light output and light colour.. Trying to use "Watts" as a light output level is about as daft as me trying to use "Inches" to measure the weight of some...

    D Day

Whilst that is very true, later anniversaries will still have other close family relatives alive, who can remember their loved ones and what that did for us all in a more personal and direct way. There was an item on our local BBC midlands news about the daughter of the first allied soldier...
