    EICR

R2 should be approx 1.666 x r1 on a cirucit wired in 2.5/1.5 twin, yes, but your figures do not fit that. In fact your figures are almost right for a 2.5/1 ring that might have a little bit of 2.5/1.5 used on alterations

    EICR

You should be aware there is a difference between upper and lower case designations. When we refer to R1+R2 this is upper case R1, R2 (And Rn, if it were relevant) ring end to ends are lower case r1, rn and r2. Normally R1+R2 = (r1+r2)/4 but any spurs off the ring will distort this assumption

    Prepayment meters...

And we need to be able to buy a key for the prepayment meters, which can be charged with say £20 of credit and regardless of the current state of the meter (debit/emergeny credit/etc) and which company its with will temporary set that to the side and bring the supply on only while the key...

Options to protect cables entering consumer unit

The youtube crowd like snotting up the back of boards with fire sealent like its a ******* moneyshot! Most of the time, it doesn't infer much of an advantage*, and makes it a pain to add cirucits. *I think the only time it can be most of an advantage is where there is a sizeable building void...

Decent external PIR sensor with sensitivity adjustment

Even the Steniel units don't seem to have a sensitivity adjustment, unless there is a separate range that do?

Decent external PIR sensor with sensitivity adjustment

Anyone able to recommend one that has the senstivity adjustment control, doesn't seem to be offered by many these days. Replaced some PIR lanterns for someone either side of garage door (had previously fitted some cheapys he sourced himself where one kept triggering by itself) with some KSR...

    Changing an MC4

Should be electrically separate, so make sure DC isolator is open (to reduce as low as possible risk of any fault connecting the other pole to earth), check for any voltage between the pole you want to work on and earth / anything earthy in the vicinity. Ensure covers are refitted over...

Cable size between inverter and consumer unit

Generally 4mm is used as the starting point for domestic PV, but has the potential to require larger; current carrying capacity on a 4mm for a 3.6kw (typo I'm guessing?) is unlikely is unlikely to be an issue, but volt drop could be depending on length, you should keep it to a minimum for the...

Where to position AFDD's in HMO subs

If its surface mounted, it doesn't have to be in metal as its not concealed. Think of it as surface mounted, or protected by earthed metallic covering (suitable as a cpc), not and

Where to position AFDD's in HMO subs

OP, what is the exact routing of the 6mm T/E submains? if its just clipped through the roof space and drops striaght into the top of the board, then I can't see any requirement for RCD protection, if it drops down the wall to the board at a lower level in the room, then as I'm assuming its still...

Where to position AFDD's in HMO subs

Why are you providing RCD protection to the sub mains? If they trip, not only do you loose everything, but if they are in the main board, someone now has to find the building maintenance chap (or call him in if out of hours) to unlock the plant room to reset. Add AFDD protection in and you are...

    Havells RCBO?

Was just comming in here to say, that if you can find the newlec range of about 5-8 years ago then they appear to be identical to the havells prosafe stuff (you have to look closely at labels to see there is braker with a different name in the board. It does say 6ka on it, and while I suspect...

    Commercial kitchen LED batten

I'll try and find out from a colleague what we fitted in a relighting job in a bakery factory last year as they were spec'ed for the temperature, as were the T5 units that they replaced (which were thorn) as even if you go for flouro, if not speced for the heat HF ballasts will suffer and I dont...

    A Real Odd Issue

Probably not, it sounds like the noise is comming from the later stages of the switch mode power supply cirucits, after its already been converted to DC, but as the lights will not be in sync, you could find that the effcetive frequency is dependant on number of units in close enough vicinity...

    New to this

Second-onded on the SELV comment, but with one provisio which might not be obvious to the OP, in that you really don't want to run it too far for volt drop, so the ideal is that your fancy water feature with various lights all around has all the equipment being 12V, but 230v is brought somewhere...

Fraud! Someone using my company details.

Are you sure thats noit just citys getting confused about which contractor has ordered the heaters? :ROFLMAO: Maybe it was just our branch, but it wasn't unusual for them to book to bookm wrong orders to our account, and I can remember hearing similar from some S/E subbies as well, so they...

    A Real Odd Issue

Ive seen similar a colleague went to look at a small shop installation because the alarm engineer had been getting false activations and the panel was reporting some kind of noise figure (not sure quite what, this was what he told me, but it was a proper commericial galaxy panel - so I guess it...

    Testing

Your PFC is going to be a lot higher than your PEFC on a TT system, remember that PFC is the highest of PEFC and PSCC, seen many certs for TT installs witha comically small PFC filled in! For PSCC, 2 lead high, test between neutral and each phase (3 tests) and take the highest and double it to...

    Self closing rccd hager

How did you carry out your IR test? (Honest question, I've seen faults missed before) Perhaps the device carrys out a basic leakage test at ELV before allowing reclosing? - I don't know, I haven't seen the specs, it would seen a sensible thing to design into it though
