Additional solar array and addition of a battery

Thank you @binky, I'm approved for the full export of the existing system (3.68kw) plus the new system of 8kw, making a total of 11.68kw. Sitting very close to the substation on a housing estate has its benefits.

Additional solar array and addition of a battery

I've drawn up my system schematic, is there anything left of that the DNO will require on there, or any problems anyone can see?

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

ZX Spectrum is where my programming skills were born back in the day, used to write machine code on that, basically added lots of extra stuff to BASIC, modified a few games etc. I struggle today though, but have still dabbled a bit over the years but it requires copious amounts of Googling...

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

The middle one would be the better option, our ones at work are very close to the WiFi access point, probably why they don't have an issue.

I gave you a trophy, thanks.

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

I think someone did it on the Overclockers forum, but in your case its energy use rather than solar. Can you join the Overclockers team on PV Output? I've just got my Victron system uploading to PV Output using Node Red running on the Victron Cerbo GX

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

The wifi sticks appear to work without issue at work - there are three 15kw Solis inverters as it three phase. Haven't seen anyone on the other forum complain about Solis, some have issues but they are a different inverter manufacturer. Shame it doesn't have a RJ45 network socket, my SolarEdge...

    Quattro install

I wasn't, the DNO requires it ;) Only the Multiplus II 3000 and 5000 have ever been approved, the larger ones haven't, they are apparently going to be done, but no timescale. Apart from requiring more cabling, and another isolator no real implications, in fact the opposite, as there are some...

I have 12 JA Solar 395w panels connected to two MPPT 150/45 solar charge controllers, they are 4 strings, with two strings connected in parallel to each SCC. Victron have a useful tool for working out which MPPT to use https://www.victronenergy.com/mppt-calculator I was going to use the...

    Help with G99 commissioning forms

Hi, My system is installed, and now I need to complete the form attached, and send in a schematic etc. Hopefully I have the correct form, my system is an existing 3.68kw system installed in 2015, and my Victron system (PV with DC battery) installed recently. Presumably I need to list both...

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

I've no experience in this regard, but the logic makes sense. I have heard of others saying it works well, but various manufactures don't recommend it for one reason or another. Givenery is the same, although they are apparently bringing something out to allow two inverter/battery systems to...

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

@Goldstar Yes that is a good point, he will need to apply for a G99, listing the existing system and the additional system. @Oldman22 You'll need to download and complete form A1.1 from...

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

It's totally different, your thinking about it the wrong way, remember we're talking about @Oldman22 system where he is adding a AC connected battery. With one inverter you have one CT clamp, The inverter sees a draw from the grid, and the inverter compensates by increasing its output from the...

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

One potential problem with having two inverters is you could end up in a race condition but it depends how nicely they play together. I think there is a way around it, but can't remember what it is.

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

Compatible more likely means the inverter and BMS communicate with each other, and have been tested.

Solis 3kW AC coupled Inverter & Fogstar 5.12kWh Rack Battery ?

Subbed to the thread, as it was me that suggested this setup, keep us updated as to how you get on. Did you get in touch with the electrician I suggested? Regarding the voltage, the guy in Sandwich is using Pylontech and they are the same voltage range as the Fogstar pack.

New consumer unit required - does it mean none fire rated down lighters need replacing?

Two, myself aged circa 55 and my 20 year old daughter ;) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Well, the two of us carried it out from the house, then put it on a workmate/bench in front of the battery rack, I put a pair of steps either side of the workmate, which I then stood on and lifted it onto...

Additional solar array and addition of a battery

I used the JK BMS, I tried to keep it as compact as possible, as space is in short supply, but obviously more than some have available.

That's on my list of to-do's - need to get it done soon as need to send it to the DNO
