    Solar Panel Damage Review

That's pretty shoddy and could easily have been avoided. I would certainly not be happy if that was my place. Sometimes accidents happen, but that just looks like carelessness.

    Solar System Review

My 2p worth. I've never liked the idea of built in DC isolators as you end up with a situation like this. Where it is not a 'requirement' for external DC isolators. The most likely failure point on any running PV system (assuming the connections in the system are done right) is the inverter. You...

    flat and auger wood bits

Bosch self cut every time. you can frop on them cheap enough on amazon. Get a set of them by all means then you will have a variety, but I only ever carry 25mm normal, 14mm and 25mm long. Never really find myself needing anything else when it comes to holes in wood for cables. Edit: oh and...

What type of conduit for outdoors lighting?

It's not that clipping cable to an exterior wall doesn't comply with current regulations. It's the type of cable that you use. Twin and skin does not like the sunshine and will become brittle over time and likely crack. I'm assuming @sirsparkabit meant H07, but could be wrong. H07 is a type of...

    EV charging stations

I don't believe you can apply diversity to car chargers as they can be full current for a long length of time. You would probably have to look at load curtailment, which many, but not all, chargers support.

    Energy company

To be honest, I would call Octupus. They are usually good. They 'may' say Go tariff is ok for your battery. They may say eco7 is better.

    Energy company

Don't think they allow you anymore if you don't have an EV. They used to be ok if you just had batteries. Think they have tightened their belt though. Their other option if agile, but I don't believe this is performing how people would hope. None of the super cheap units seem to be happening.

Why is my inverter doing this?

I haven't fit any of these, so it's not like I know them like the back of my hand and this info could be wrong. but It looks like the inverter operation mode is 'Bat First'. Now the blurb from the manual states... Not the easiest chinglish to understand mind. I 'think' you need Load Fist...

Large Domestic Solar system plus storage

Wind and Sun used to be good for giving info on things like this. Obviously you aren't going to get rid of the standing charge. DNO may not allow such a big system Last I heard Octopus no longer alloe 'battery only' people to join the Go Tariff.

    Wifi into office/man cave

Might not be designed for it, but certainly can be used. I'm sure a company in Scotland used to offer Broadband connection of the mains incomer. I feel sure the network operators also send a lot of data over the power lines.

can the house draw from solar and battery at the same time using a hybrid invertor

I would think most will allow this. though inverters do have a max output and if you exceed this, then grid draw will occur no matter how much you have stored in the battery. Best thing to do is read the manual of the inverter that you are looking at fitting.

Ethernet Cable Speeds varies with a longer cable

Are you connecting the cores in correct order? Following either T-568A or T-568B on both ends? Not following this layout can cause bad cross-talk. Are you using pass through RJ45 connectors? I heard many times of these causing issues. Try closed end. Are there any LEDs on whatever you are...

Why is my inverter doing this?

What is the opertaion mode set to? Has it always done this? the operation mode may be set to backup priority or only start discharging fully after a certain time.

PV FITS payments and changes to installation.

Will probably have to go AC coupled for the battery. Better that way anyway if you have decent FiT as with DC coupled, power goes to the battery before the generation meter sees it. With AC Coupled, it's completley seperate and full generation still goes through meter. the efficiency is slightly...

    Joining a part p scheme

Just to add the view point of someone just going through joining NAPIT. I have my site assessment on tuesday. Yes, NAPIT require you to have 2391. I believe you can join without but must get it within 3 months (could be 6). The reason I believe this is someone on my 2391 course a couple of...
