Fusebox off but still got an electric shock

Could be a few things. The socket is 'rigged' straight into the service head to bypass the meter (and by default, the consumer unit) The neutral tail maybe put into the neutral bar inside the consumer unit AND the polarity on the tails wrong way round The switch may be faulty Some...

Help. Please.Wanted Older Style/Type Window shock Vibrators

Out of interest, why 'older' style if you are updating the system. Why not a more modern, wired shock sensor? I've never really had any issues with Texecom Impaq wired shocks. (Other brands are available). They are wired traditionally with 12v DC and N/C loops for alarm and tamper. They can...

Sofar Me3000sp inverter not charging/discharging batteries

I haven't installed any of these, but it sounds to me like an issue with a CT (current transformer), more likely the one that is used to detect export. They appear to use split core ones, so it could have popped open. Or if it is wireless connection to the unit, could be batteries. What info do...

Theres something I wasn't actually aware of .

I was under the impression that an apprenticeship classed as staying in education and was an option for 16 yr olds. It certtainly was for my next door neighbours lad. He's started an apprenticeship at a construction firm rather than 6th form / college, etc

I'm no specialist in this subject but my thoughts are requirment for 3 hr battery running as they are building where people are expected to sleep; Located on exit route...

Long meter tails and a high demand house

Last time I spoke to someone from DNO they told me they don't fit 100A's anymore as the meters aren't rated for it. Anything over 80A has to be CT metering. Could all be a load of rollox, but that's what the horse said.

    Pyronix Enforcer Alarm

Have you tried powering it down and back on? Serious question. There will be a battery inside the main panel too that will need to be disconnected for a power cycle. Failing that, try a hard reset.

Lights Tripping RCD when they turn off........Sometimes

Bit of an update. So today I spent a good bit of time on the job. I split the circuit down as much as I could access and tested each leg and each fitting. Sure as damn it I went up the floors disconnecting and back down the floors testing. Found an insulation resistance fault with the leg...

Lights Tripping RCD when they turn off........Sometimes

Yes. at 250V with L&N together to earth. I get 0.00 M Ohm. But I'm unsure if that is to be expected or not with the type of fitting. I simply Don't know. Hence I'm asking. I cannot access the first 2 fittings on the circuit (going to try today) but if I split the circuit after them and test...

Lights Tripping RCD when they turn off........Sometimes

See the attached image. I have been sent to a building that is about 15 years old. It has recent had its Communal consumer unit changed and since then the communal Lights have been having issues with tripping the RCD. It is a shared RCD but for testing I have disconnected all conductrs of other...

    Cable calculations

Most Solaredge issues I've dealt with are the inverter not ramping up. i.e it will power up and show screen but not actaully talk to the optimisers and tell them to start powering. Solaredge technical can 'reset' something from their end and get it going again. That is, so long as the gateway...

    PiR wiring issues

It doesn't matter which way round the red/black go. They just create a loop through the PIR that the PIR opens when it detect something.

Need to get a Tester (MFT)

Just to update everyone, I decided on getting a Fluke 1663 which I got at a pretty decent price. Well I think it is anyways. It turned up 2 days ago and had a couple of goes on it. Seems all good so far.

Adding sockets to a ring main

You can spur off the ring and it be ok, if done properly. No spuring off a spur, so each spur to just one point. It's a lot better and easier (if adding multiple points) to just break into the ring and extend it to the new section.

Need to get a Tester (MFT)

Time for me to purchase a sparkly new MFT. Never actually owned one, always used works (no longer work there). I'm after some opinions. I don't have a load of cash atm, I know with testers you generally get what you pay for and if you ask 10 sparkies what is best, you will get 10 different...
