Look for numbers on the side and whack em in Google with "transformer" afterwards.  Chances are it'll be something obscure only relative to Makita but you might be lucky.  Or just meet up some time and you can have one of my old chargers! It'll only cost you a Pret latte! 😂

Did think that but the breech is in such good nick so didn't want to touch that. As I expected the citric has taken off the bluing.  The pitting is a nuisance. I might try the electrolysis bath for that. Somebody has suggested cerakote rather than re-bluing. It might even be etch primer...

It was actually this really basic charger where the cap went bang. Ni-Cd only I think maybe..... DFC & bar.

Get that lid off and look at the caps side on! Edit: I think I have the repaired one somewhere and written on the side in a Sharpie is "C1" or whatever that I replaced.

No worries. Whip the cover off and have a look. Just 4 Phillips screws. 

Sevenoaks & London. The caps have little crosses on top, it's like the weak point so they just "dome" rather split with a bit of force.  Bit different to the bigger dielectric oil etc filled ones, they can really go (bang).  Yes, generally bits are easily available.

I popped into Aldi, they didn't stock them seemingly in my local one! Edit: As an aside they're apparently baked in Moray in Scotland thus back to the start...must be a recirculating fan...

Open it up and look for the obvious...I had a Makita charger go down, it was just a popped electrolytic capacitor. Replaced it and happy days. I've probably got a spare charger here if you want. 

Me being a monkey see, monkey do type...I may not be a smart man etc... I connect + to + and - to -. Then put a 10k resistor from the centre pin to negative? Any particular wattage resistor? Does the centre pin in the battery need to be connected to the tool centre pin? Could easily build a...
