Twin Mains supply to double socket socket

I know that, was wondering if others did. Lol. However, to answer the question someone asked about which Reg disallows 13A socket outlets in factories. I have the following answer, but it a bit long. I wrote for any morons who don't know how to read the Regs. So I apology in advance to...

    Garden power regulations

You have complicated the installation. For a start, if you run two cables. Unless you tapping off cables at multiple locations along the cables it is NOT called a ring circuit. It just called a parallel circuit. A installation method often used in Industry if a circuit's demand falls between...

    Garden power regulations

You right, I missed a zero off. lol. The IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) permit an unlimited number of 13A socket outlets (at any point unfused single or double, or any number fused) to be installed on a ring circuit, provided that the floor area served does not exceed 100 square metres. In...

    Use Red/Black Twin and Earth

Why do you get the idea from that Brown/Blue is not mandatory?

    Garden power regulations

In that case you have broken the regulations. As 100 sq. metres is only 10x10 metres (i.e. 10 stride x 10 strides) and must be within physical boundaries like walls. Most 4 bed house exceed 100 sq. m, which is why have two rings these days. So there is no way a factory floor will comply. A...

Twin Mains supply to double socket socket

I think you'll find, that because push connections are spring loaded. Unlike screw terminals, they are classed as permanent. As the tension on wire supposedly is maintained. However, how do you then remove wires for testing? Because push connections are only meant to be used once.

    Garden power regulations

If you check, a 13A socket domestic ring circuit can only be used to fed a maximum area of 100 sq, metres. No factory has a floor area that is only 10m x 10m. As for the sockets to BS4343. It in the Appendix under standard circuits. If not it in the 'On Site Guide'. Clearly you don't know the...

    Garden power regulations

You should not be feeding the shed, a garage, or any outside equipment from a domestic ring. As you have already broken the regulation about the floor area a ring can serve, which is only 100 sq. m. That is only an area of 10m x 10m and the 100 sq. m must be within the confines of fixed...

Twin Mains supply to double socket socket

I suppose it depends if they using the correct manufacturer's crimping tool. I seen a lot of people use the unapproved scissor type tools you get from Car Shops. I even seen people use Plyers or Cutters. However, as I hope you all aware. None of these methods conform to the requirements for...

Twin Mains supply to double socket socket

You make a valid and good point. I see the mistake now. Lol. Yes I do use a spell and grammar checker as I'm Dyslexic. However, it doesn't always pick up every mistake. But despite my handicap which was diagnosed in 1960. I've always manage to achieve credits or distinctions in all my...

Twin Mains supply to double socket socket

Judging by your comments and lack of punctuation. I presume English is not your first language and you new to the trade. Since you seem not to understand my point. I never said "you don't need to test". So I don't understand where you got that from. Secondly, original ring-mains had few...

Twin Mains supply to double socket socket

I have seen many broken wires (without them being twisted) in socket-outlet terminals from over tightening of screws. Even some where the terminate screw is on the insulation and not the copper, because not twisted together. In addition, copper eventually deforms under the terminal screw...

Twin Mains supply to double socket socket

Oh Dear! What a lot of amateur electricians there seems out there. It seems some of you do not know much about the history of electrical practise in the UK. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, I probably forgotten more than you seem to know. If you understood electrical theory, you would know...

Regulations Relating To Position Of Socket/Fused Spur For Gas Cooker

It all depends on the amount of current the cooker requires. If it just for the ignitor, then a socket outlet is find. However, if it for an electric oven or something that requires a high current. A spur unit is best. As a socket outlet will tend to overheat the sockets pins causing a bad...

Twin Mains supply to double socket socket

Will all please note, the requirements for a ring-main are that it can NEVER be broken. So in fact, before terminating the two ends of a ring into an outlet. Whether it a socket-outlet or a spur unit. The two ends of the ring MUST be twisted together. You MUST NOT just push the two ends into...

How to get 18th Edition as a foreign engineer?

I completely agree with both 'Sharpend' & 'Geoff1946' comments. Most company Human Resources departments have absolutely no idea about proper job titles. To most, if you know which end of a spanner to use it makes you an Engineer. Lol. There nothing wrong with the proper title of...

How to get 18th Edition as a foreign engineer?

Hi Kadir, UK qualification for Electricians can be confusing for most HR departments.  To practice as an electrician either doing installation or maintenance work you only need a recognised electrical industry qualification or equivalent. However, when it comes to the IET (IEE) Wiring...
