What does 9-30V DC supply mean?

They say the memory is the first thing to go!

storage heater problem, no power at night to charge

Champion. Appreciate the update, nice to know there are some competent people left. We only usually get people here who have been ripped off or want to do bad DIY!

    Changing energy suppliers .

That's not weird, that's exactly how it works. Experian etc aren't official credit raters, or whatever. If I want to decided whether to lend you money I decide what factors I take into account, Experian may or may not be a reference I use. All Experian do is look at your history and estimate...

    A proper horror story!

Probably one of those 'well if you just close it then we won't have this issue again will we' type things. I can sort of see their point. Not necessarily, it depends what is using it. That's not how it works. Take for instance you browser, it connects to websites on port 80. If you block port...

    Electric towel rail stopped working.

I suspect this is reasonably simple and any of us here could identify the issue in a matter of minutes, if we were there. Unfortunately trying to train you to do electrics is not something that is going to end well. I have already told you that buying a multimeter is a waste of money.

What does 9-30V DC supply mean?

No, or maybe a bit. That could be per output so might be 300mA, but then the unit itself will still take some power so even if you had 15mA per output you would still need to account for the device itself. You're overthinking it anyway, just stick a 12VDC 1A power supply and be done with it...

    Scoob button

It was cute in its day, the actual buttons are more than just a simple thanks nowadays (have been for some time).

Shared Neutral (not borrowed) 3 phase

I suppose it depends on why this question is being asked. It works fine, electrically. I'd have no problems having this running like this in my garage but it's one of those things that if something happens and someone says 'that's not right' you have no leg to stand on. Being...

What does 9-30V DC supply mean?

I'm lost then, there's only 1 set of wires. More than likely fine just using one pair and making the other one safe. Well yes, the wattage is the output power, so is whatever you are powering less than 10W at 12V?

Shared Neutral (not borrowed) 3 phase

Yeah, again I mentioned that originally. Electrically there is nothing wrong with it, it's just the technicalities of circuit arrangements.

Open up your cable calc software!

What does 9-30V DC supply mean?

Probably current differential but tbh for the difference it won't make any odds at this end of the scale. What is the issue? Have you read the instructions? Probably just need to use one or the other pair, or all 4. Don't know without seeing it.

Shared Neutral (not borrowed) 3 phase

This is where the confusion comes. On paper (from a theoretical PoV) it is fine, it works exactly the same as a single phase DB, which is why I said if you fit a DB in the middle it is all fine. From a single phase circuit PoV (which is what it is when it is a single phase socket outlet) it is...

Shared Neutral (not borrowed) 3 phase

Balanced or unbalanced it makes no odds. Think of it this way, you have a 50A submain to a DB, and that submain is full of single phase circuits. Do you you fit a neutral on the submain that is 3x the phase conductor? Balanced or unbalanced just means it either needs or doesn't need a neutral...

What does 9-30V DC supply mean?

Yep, anything from 9V to 30V, give or take 10%.
  16. Lurch

Shared Neutral (not borrowed) 3 phase

Erm, no. If they were all on a single phase then yes, but you will not be pulling 48A if the 3 sockets are on 3 phases. That was my take on it, 3x single phase socket outlets. I have never, and am fairly certain I never will, seen anyone use a TP MCB for this. It's not even an edge case...

    A proper horror story!

I think what's happening here is something on the network is infected/defective, and Zen just want it to stop doing whatever it is doing. Easiest way for them to do that (bearing in mind they are only providing the broadband, not computer support services) is to get the port blocked so the...

You don't need to guess, that's what he did.

storage heater problem, no power at night to charge

As I said earlier, the circuits have been tested but not the actual supply to the board. Could be a loose terminal, or a dodgy switch. Now we have discovered that this is the 2nd meter I retract my previous diagnosis.

Shared Neutral (not borrowed) 3 phase

As I said, I know it makes no odds and it works fine. It's all about what the regs says though.
