Recommend twin and earth tripping tool

I’m a Stanley knife on cable end angled slightly in towards the earth and slice up type of guy. Having lightly prescored the outer sheath at the point where I want it to end.

    Intermittent Circuit Breaker Tripping

What are the exact details of the breaker that trips? Is it an RCBO, RCD or MCB the details you supply will confirm. Nothing to say you now have another fault or the breaker is knackered after all it’s previous trips.

    Mains Connection for New Build

I wouldn’t even consider using my own cable, if a fault happens you are leaving yourself wide open to a world of pain re responsibility and liability. As said above keep the responsibility with the DNO up to and including the meter. Then you can adopt the nowt to do with me stance if the cable...

    Low profile downlights

Mate building a man cave, doesn’t have a huge amount of headroom inside and there will only be about 30mm gap between plasterboard face and the celotex style insulation. Can gouge out some of the insulation if required but I rather not. Anyone recommend a low profile downlight please.

How should I gland this swa?

Does that heatshrink happen to be black in colour? I remember being involved in a new switchboard that had to get a ton of panel edge protector strip (similar to grommet strip) changed because it was black and found to be conducive, something to do with the carbon that was used to colour it.

    Single phase Winch control

I bought a cheap as chips winch from eBay years ago that had two wireless remotes, that would work in your situation and save a lot of grief.

    Oven/Hob combo wiring and breaker

If I understand you correctly you are saying you have a “cooker” with a manufacturers cable and 13A plug fitted. If this is correct it will be fine fed from a B16 breaker on 2.5mm t&e.

    256v - stopping ev charger

Knowing what phase you are on doesn’t help your neighbour, explaining to him that his voltage is outside the upper voltage limit and to get in touch with the DNO to check the voltage and adjust the transformer tapping if required will help.

    256v - stopping ev charger

Sounds to me like your supply transformer from the substation might need to be dropped a tap setting. Worth getting in touch with the DNO telling them that your electrician has said your voltage is out with limits at 256V. They should come and check it. Let us know how you get on.

Steel Wire Armoured Electical Cable - How Can I Tell The Cable Guage/Size/Thickness?

Me me me, the last house I stayed in I used 20m of 3 core 6mm to feed my garage, it was 2nd hand used for 2 months to feed a site office, got job to disconnect it, why would I not reuse it as it was in perfect condition. Reuse, reduce, recycle after all.
