Tripped Switch But Now No Power

I had a SIM problem with my house cu. Power tripped. I reset and nothing. I pressed the test button to trip the main switch. Turned off all the rcb then turned back on the main trip switch then individual rcb. All worked fine though I couldn't for the life of me tell you what was the problem

    Solar panel puzzle

Also check the times it's charging from the grid. Is there a pattern?

    Solar panel puzzle

Check your inverter for timed charge. If you Google your inverter there's usually a walk through as to what the settings should be. Just check them all.

Electric sockets for outside but undercover!

It's not just the sockets you have to consider. What will you be plugging into them? Will they be left outdoors (under cover)

To Regs & Best Practice ?

You give sparkys a good name. Keep up the good work

To Regs & Best Practice ?

I appreciate you are the expert but if your client asked for 1 socket in every room when you recommend 3 or 4 would you say they are questioning you expertise? If I'm willing to pay for the extra materials and labour to fit 8 sockets in a room when you recommend 3 or 4 why would you think they...

To Regs & Best Practice ?

To Regs & Best Practice ?

I'm all for free speech. 😜 Plus I'm not saying it's wrong. I just wouldn't allow it.

To Regs & Best Practice ?

As a property developer imo i guess it depends on where the cables are. I wouldn't allow my sparky to run horizontal cables in any other rooms than the kitchen or utility. And even in these areas where possible return below a base unit and back up to the socket.

    Solar Virgin

As mentioned I would avoid the cracked panels. Battery and an inverter is a good shout to dip your toe into solar. Use the cheap over night tariff and depending on the usage/storage you could drop your purchase cost by about a1/3 . One thing I would add. With battery storage I would work out...

    Re-wiring

Depends how much of that is materials. I would imagine 2k for the labour

    Re-wiring

4 days max imo. £3-4k. If any more I would be using my size 10s

    Re-wiring

Not as daft as suggesting 6-8k for a rewire on 1 bed flat.

    Re-wiring

Save your money mate. Buy the house then get the sparky to sort the electrics.

    DIY "rewire" loophole?

Whilst on the subject of building regs and electrical work. I'm in the process of building my own extension. On the last BI visit I commented "do you still need a copy of the electrical certificate to sign off the extension" (they have in the past) Nope, regs have changed and we no longer...

Battery only storage - Worth it?

I'm agreeing with John. Battery only is prob the better option (whilst cheap rates are available) My panels are south facing and are pretty useless for 4 month of the year. Yeah they make some power during the winter but nothing noticeable.

    Brick lights

Fitted 3 of these to my mother in law's house a few years back. 2 units have been replaced since. Not easy to seal on rustic bricks

    Solar predicament

Please don't shoot yourself in the face. Have you tried a g98 application? At least make use of some of the equipment.
