Shortening the supplied Pre-Charged Split Aircon copper pipes.

Thanks. I haven't found a spec for the R210 models, but the old R410a models have 1000g and say "add 30g if longer than 5m". Which is only 3% more, a trivial amount ? Max length is quoted as 15m. "you can always lets some out" How will I measure that amount ?

Shortening the supplied Pre-Charged Split Aircon copper pipes.

I've bought an Electriq Pre-Charged with R290 Split Aircon which comes with 4.5m pipes. I only need about 3m for a neat installation. Will the small volume of moved pipework result in the aircon being over-gassed ? I have a vacuum pump and High/Low gauge set to check the running pressures if...

    Aircon pipes spanner size

"Use the jack under the wheel brace. " Great idea, wish I'd been able to try that on the overtight bolts. My 500ft/lbs fix versus the corner weight of the car on the 1ft brace. Not sure I need to get imperial spanners, a decent adjustable wrench would do. That's what I use on 15mm and 22mm...

    Aircon pipes spanner size

Thanks Dricah. But earlier posts suggest that the brass fittings may be 1/4" and 3/8" inside, but the compression nuts may be various sizes depending on the manufacturer. I'll wait until the aircon arrives. Re torquing. So in what situations do you agree that torquing is necessary ? Do you...

    Aircon pipes spanner size

Coincidently a recent MOT suggested I should change the front brake pads on my car. Tried to loosen the wheel nuts with the 12" long wrench in the toolkit. No go, even jumping on it. In the end it required a socket and a 3 foot extension, and jumping on it . Went around all four wheels and...

    Aircon pipes spanner size

No seriously, what do you mean by "shearing" ?

    Aircon pipes spanner size

Hi John "Up to shearing and back half a turn." What's shearing ? Tight enough to snap the fitting ? ! ?

    Aircon pipes spanner size

"you can torque it to spec all you want. cable will then most likely fall out because it wasn tight enough..." Tighten to torque. Wriggle the cable. Slightly loosen and then re-torque. Won't fall out. "those fittings could have anything and may even vary within the same product range " Good...

    Aircon pipes spanner size

Thanks for all the replies. I have a vacuum pump, as recommended in the instructions. I also have an adjustable wrench. I could tighten with the wrench and hope it's tight enough. And not too tight. Or too loose. Or I can tighten to the recommended torque. That's the sort of detail that could...

    Aircon pipes spanner size

Thanks, I generalised when I said "spanner". The instructions require a torque wrench on the joints. So I will need to buy open-ended imperial "crowsfoot" attachments of the correct size.

    Aircon pipes spanner size

Hi all I'm getting the tools together to install an ElectriQ 12000BTU DIY Split Aircon, delivery in 5 weeks time. What size spanners do I need for the 1/4" and 3/8" flanged copper "compression" fittings ? A simple enough question for google, but zero correct results, just loads of results for...

Is it OK to DIY and make safe dangerous wiring in a bathroom?

I feel for the little guy in image 53 that succumbed to the mould........ :-(

Is this cable in a dangerous state / against regulations?

I would suspect a cable with Wagos on to be live, otherwise cheapskate electrician would just have just taped up the bare end.

    Electric test fail.

To me that's how it reads. They assume there's a break and so make it into 2 spurs ?
  16. M

    Electric test fail.

He didn't test for a break, he just looked for a loose connection or incorrect connection in every socket. Having taken every socket off the wall it would have been easy to diss the wires and check the wiring for continuity between adjacent boxes. With the ring broken at the CU of course. And so...

    Sparking emersion heating switch

That's what I thought at first, but I don't think light switches show red on the toggle when on, only higher rated switches. I did wonder if the immersion heater was starting to short due to corrosion, but the Experts say the sparking is normal.

    climate change is natural?

I think you'll have to explain what is "soulless" in an EV, and what features of your ICE have soul.

    climate change is natural?

Well Fleeting, at least you're not a denier, but that's a very "not my problem" attitude. As gezb said, you don't have to have the sort of EV that we enjoy driving. You'll get more than enough power with a Tesla Plaid, Porsche Taycan etc. And max torque available from zero will be far from...

Would the following change technically work? Or will I blow my house up if power it returned to the system?!

Shouldn't the SonOff be installed in the ceiling behind the rose, where L, N and E are available ?
