Well it seems pointless working these days?

I hear this argument a lot.... I bought my first house in 1983 for 9.5K seems cheap but it was a run down doer upper in a poor street and I had to save up for a 5% deposit. Interest rates were in double figures and the house was unheated apart from a coal fire and a HW cyl with immersion. No...

Well it seems pointless working these days?

It does seem that the gap between working and non working people is getting narrower to the point, as the title of this thread says, why bother working anymore. 2 words - self respect

    Wifi into office/man cave

I needed wifi in my outbuilding as we use it for airbnb. too far for wifi from main house and not practical getting a cable inside. I fitted and enclosure to the outside of the building where there was a supply and fitted a plug in TP link adaptor with built in antenna, ran a cat5e from the main...

    Hot water from PV

I am toying with the idea of a self install but using some of the output to feed a large HW cylinder. The water could be heated from PV via 3KW element and the water circulated round rads. Maybe a 2nd cyl for DHW or would the pre heated water work with the gas boiler? For me with a combined...

    RCBO tripping

cant imagine a domestic pressure washer pulling more than 32a. have you tried the machine in another socket on a different circuit? that way you can eliminate the machine as being faulty

Respool the single core cable, how do you do it?

To re coil, just repeat the steps taken to uncoil it in reverse sequence.

    Hob and double oven

Diversity rule is (unless its changed): first 10a plus 30% of remainder. so, 10a then 30% of 37 is 11 add the 10 total load 21a Diversity rule makes the assumption that you will never use all the rings and both ovens/ grill at once. so a 32A circuit using 6mm cable will be more than adequate...

    What cctv system?

I have a Swann system, has a hub connected to wifi and all 6 cameras wired back to the unit. Cameras have an RCA connection and cable also has 12v supply in separate cores. You can get systems from screwfix for approx £200 with 4 cameras. I had to buy a HDD for the hub. System easy to set up and...

Cable gland? 3 phase 50mm meter tails

Otherwise a sheet of paxolin/ tufnol with correct sized holes to suit the cables individually. On larger ones I have seen it cut longitudinally down the middle of the holes and fitted in 2 halves to make it easier.
