    Feeding cable through insulation

So I would be reference method A, in conduct. Would this be safe to do in 1mm t&e or am I going to have to try and change it to 1.5mm t&e possibly screwing it up? The 5 new exterior lights will be led low watt run from photo cell so 5 of them will be on for quite a few hours throughout the night.

    Feeding cable through insulation

Are you sure about this as I’m slightly paranoid now 😐. I could have attempted to re cable in 1.5mm but the runs under the floor might have got snagged and fell off underneath. Should I run the cable up between kitchen and insulation. Should I run cable up between exterior wall and...

    Feeding cable through insulation

So am I correct in saying this is not safe at all to do so in 1mm but safe to do so in 1.5mm? I really didn’t think this would have been that hard to do? And there is no way that the part in the insulation can be done in 1mm, ie conduct or insulation split apart?

    Feeding cable through insulation

In total my downstairs circuit would be powering 12 led low wattage lights

    Feeding cable through insulation

Yes I have a neutral. Is there anyway possible that I could get away with 1mm at all. Making a run in between the insulation for the cable to run up so that it’s not compact in insulation. Running a piece of 25mm round conduct up the 3 sections of wall that cables are running up. All...

    Feeding cable through insulation

I’m linking off my existing downstairs 6a circuit. Taking 1meter 1mm t&e link from existing switch to new switch to control new exterior lights for maintenance. From new switch 4meters 1mm 3core&E to photo cell From photo cell 4meters 1mm t&e to new light From new light 4meters 1mm t&e to...

    Feeding cable through insulation

At my consumer unit my downstairs lighting circuit is ran from a 6amp breaker RCD protected. It runs 7 low wattage led lights atm and I want to add 5 more low wattage led lights. So 12 lights total will be ran from lighting breaker. 6amps can handle 1440watts. If I’m to derate by 50% as some...

    Feeding cable through insulation

Am I better of just playing it safe and running it through conduct then?

    Feeding cable through insulation

Yes it’s only lighting. I’m linking from original switch out to photo cell then linking from there out to feed 4 led low watt lights. Cable to feed the Solar cell will be buried in 6ft of insulation and only 2 lights linking out after that will be in 6ft of insulation. The other 2 lights will be...

    Feeding cable through insulation

If above isn’t suitable I have 30mm plastic flexible conduct that I could run up behind insulation behind the wall?

    Feeding cable through insulation

Hi thanks for the reply, the cable is ran of the lighting circuit which is rcd protected. The amount of cable totally enclosed at first point is 6ft then linking out under floorboards to next point which is also 6ft linking out under floor again to next point which is 6ft total in insulation...

    Feeding cable through insulation

Would it need to be at the front (plaster board side) or the back (outside wall side) of the insulation? Meant to say above once gets to 6ft high cut out I’m taking cable outside for a light.

    Feeding cable through insulation

Skirting is removed and I’ve got a cable coming from under the floor boards through the bottom of the wooden stud frame with a hole cut out on the plaster board. I’m running the cable around 6ft above the opening at the bottom of floor that is cut out. 6ft high I’ve cut another patch out of...

    Feeding cable through insulation

Hi might sound a daft question but does it matter how cable runs through insulation behind stud walls. From top hole on wall I’ve fed rod down at the back of insulation but rod pops out at the bottom hole on the wall at the front of the insulation?
