Better legislation for online market places

You would pay import taxes if being shipped from abroad. Bigger issue is offshoring profits, as we have discussed before.

Better legislation for online market places

Aye, how the hell do you enforce legislation if buying off the likes of Temu?

    Spur help

OK, food for thought. Assuming this is being spurred off a 32A ring main, wire the spur in 4mm cable, which is of course suitable for 32A without fusing down, given suitable installation requirements like not running through 500mm insulation.

    Recommended brands for LED Floodlights

Very hard to pin down a good make these days. 100w should be bright enough for just about anything, but be aware led tends to less forward focussed and give a wider spread of light, so point them lower than the old units.

My bad, 2000 still seems like yesterday to me 😃.

    Electrics tripping RCD

So the place was rewired, but nobody changed the board, which is very much out of date. So, at a rough guess, there's probably nothing wrong with the wiring, but build up of earth leakage from multiple appliances is taking out the RCD. My recommendation would be to get the board changed, ideally...

    Electrics tripping RCD

If it's tripping at random times, it's most likely a fridge or freezer. Sounds like you have a single RCD, is that the case?

2 gang switch with a lot going on

Looping in / out feeds at the switches rather than the old fashion way of doing that at a ceiling rose is increasingly popular. I'm not a great fan of doing things this way for the obvious reasons you just found..However, at least the cables have been marked.

    Downstairs Mains RCBO Tripping

the two issues should be completely separate. If the PIR swop failed, it's either wired wrong, of there's possibly a manual override switch. as for the sockets, do you have a gas boiler connected to that circuit? That would also need switching off if you have. Tripping could be many things...

    How effective is Part P?

It would be hard to make any direct comparisons, with a large number of immigrants working in the trades, especially in London, it would be like comparing apples and pears. We would have been better off with a scheme along the lines for the French. No one can ply a trade without demonstrating...

Knowing the difference between imperial cable and metric?

About the only thing I've not still found in use 😃

Knowing the difference between imperial cable and metric?

Cable has a lifespan dependent on use, I saw some figures for that a few years ago. A piece of 2.5mm running at full capacity 24/7 can expire in as little as 5 years. I rewired a house that had been bombed during WW2 and fully rebuilt around 1948. The whole house was VIR, and tested as just...

Knowing the difference between imperial cable and metric?

after much discussion on here some time ago, we concluded the actual regs requirement is 2Mohm for the whole installation ie IR between L Nand E busbars with the breakers in the on position (electric off of course).

    When to rewire?

This one really annoyed me. Should have told her £10k and rewired the place 🤣

    Issue replacing batten lights

If that's how it was connected originally, then it looks like your labels are correct, and the red and black go together so they all switch on from a single point
