    Octopus Flux Battery Charging strategy

Hi Ronski, was reading back through a few older threads and noticed this point. Just curious how you control the battery chargeup rate, if you have time to share, is it part of the victron's settings? Thnx

    Victron Dynamic ESS

Was on my travels around the www earlier and found this linked to from the victron community forum, thought some here may be interested. https://www.victronenergy.com/live/drafts:dynamic_ess#uk I've not read this in any detail, this is just what popped up of interest... Dynamic ESS is an...

Hi folks, stumbled across this on my travels today, not seen it here before so thought I'd post it, expect most of you know already, but just in case... link: https://octopus.energy/octopus-smart-tariffs/ for Outgoing Fixed elsewhere it says if on Octopus Go then you get Lite version with...

In the dark about real-world shading

Please note that as a courtesy I checked with easypv before posting their reply on a forum, they were happy for me to do so. Frankly I'm amazed something like easypv this is available for free and I for one am grateful that it is. (there is a paid for option too) Easy-pv's reply to my...

In the dark about real-world shading

    2. Does your software show simulated outputs for different inverters/ micro inverters? PV-Sol, the software I had, would do that, but I don't think there's a free version available. I had a look at PV-Sol but the free version is quite limited and I didn't fancy setting aside £1500 for a trial...

In the dark about real-world shading

Hi Binky, sorry for not following up on this previously. 1. Thanks very much for the tip about hard shading and re-assurance about trees. It looks like I would get a little on the west side (pic1) mid-morning wintertime, this is mid-Jan 1030am And from nearby buildings to the east side (pic2)...

    Heavy grid loading today

Hi John, hope you don't mind me asking, I'm curious how you connect the generator to the multiplus, I thought you could only do that with a quattro?

    Inverter/battery combos for octopus tariffs

Suggest you check if the givenergy inverter is a G3, iirc it has a slightly higher throughput than earlier giv models. Compare the solax and giv battery sustained discharge rates thru the inverter, if one is much bigger than the other then that's something to prefer imho, a kettle will pull...

    Hi, Joining for some advice.

Hi Ollie, suggest you take a look at the generation you'll get from the S.E.W. PV system. You can get an idea of generation potential for your location with PVGIS or easy-PV and see how little you'll get p.a. or p.c.m. to help you see if it gives a worthwhile dent in your electricity...

Well it’s that time of the year again! It’s been a mixed year so , in-line with tradition, here are a few things that have mildly irritated me

Thankfully "with the greatest respect..." seems to be less common now :-) That really did start to wind me up on a different note BP fuel 156.9, just off the motorway Costco 146.9 about a mile away, "going the extra mile" has never made me smile quite like that before!

    Smart Meter query

Puzzling, just some suggestions to add to the mix... Does it happen the same time every day? Something like a TV recorder on a timer setting ? Computer set to optimise the hard drive space every might? A printer doing a calibration cycle periodically? Kids watching TV / gaming? What's the...

    Going Back To work

Person goes to buy a coffee and asks "Can I get a large latte please?" I would love to hear a reply from the barista along the lines of "No that's my job" How language changes ! or in F1 commentary ...the McClaren of Lando Norris... ugh! On the plus side kids learn about adverbs and...

In the dark about real-world shading

Had a bit of free time recently to play with easy-pv 3D, so put together my house situ. As you can see (1st pic) , not the clearest of surroundings. (mine is the one with the red gable end and panels on the roof - gable end is approx S-facing, tall trees are to the west) The roof lines to the...

    One or two solis inverters?

Seems to make sense then, that's good. Pvgis has a nice irradiance diagram showing variation across uk and europe if you're interested.

    One or two solis inverters?

You might find pvgis useful too for judging generation, it's less detailed than easy-pv though.
