    Compact loft aerial

Why have you got a 5ft long aerial in the loft.     If it takes that to get a decent picture a smaller aerial will catch less signal and the 8 way amplifier will spread it too thinly  (non technical explanation) Ideally get a decent aerial installed outdoors while you have scaffolding etc  -...

Wiring outdoor Wall Sconce LED Light

What is used is a proper Electrician,   Your suggestion of plug plus daisy chain would be considered a bodge at best. . .

Is it ok to join alarm cable

Alarm cable is small and fine stranded and gets damaged /mangled rather easily in screw terminals that are just a screw (i.e. don't they have a 'plate' to trap the wire rather than just the screw)  So, Unless you know someone who can solder and shrink wrap the joints, my suggestion is to use 2...

    Naric certificate not accepted

NARIC May say the qualification is equivalent but a UK body may consider that training to an equivalent level in a different country’s regulatory environment doesn’t fully work for them.     Asking for details of their problem and a plan to close gap may work ..

EICR Testing can it damage white appliances if not unplugged like built-in Fridge Freeze

I think you're going to find yourself in a minority but I'm not sure I can quote a reg number on this . .  New cable installation testing,  500v because 'why not' EICR festooned with Chinese LED's, PIR's, Smokes, Chargers,  adapter strips with MOV suppression etc etc all 'shouldn't fail' -...

EICR Testing can it damage white appliances if not unplugged like built-in Fridge Freeze

True enough (although I've seen server racks being PAT tested and they weren't going anywhere fast)   but as far as dismantling the supply installation goes I've never seen a PAT tester (as opposed to an electrician) that clued-up / dedicated /brave or bothered 🙂

EICR Testing can it damage white appliances if not unplugged like built-in Fridge Freeze

Good stuff   I do wonder how the PAT tester got to the plug but perhaps that's a question for another day

EICR Testing can it damage white appliances if not unplugged like built-in Fridge Freeze

Particularly now people insist on having USB chargers (permanently connected) in Sockets a 250V DC maximum seems reasonable.    Any testing process runs the risk of a failure during the test as everything is going to fail sometime  . . Does the Fridge light come on ?  Have you checked the...

EICR Testing can it damage white appliances if not unplugged like built-in Fridge Freeze

It happens a lot with smoke alarms and TV aerial Amps tacked into lighting circuits in the loft etc.  so once an installation is in service (as is the case with an EICR) it is usual to limit any test voltages to 250V DC or less and/or apply test voltages only between L+N and E unless a L-N fault...

Urgent. Gas bonding - unsatisfactory EICR

Not an expensive job but depending on the route the cable need to take it may be a bit messy The main take away should be that the electrics and probably also gas appliances haven’t been inspected or updated for a quite a while so that’s a priority when you are able ..

Recommendation For Under Cupboard Kitchen Led Strip Lights

Could be - but if it's 'cool on TikTok' it must be good surely.   I'm thinking of mood-lighting my drainpipes now !

    Safety of extension lead

A 10 amp extension lead should be able to carry up to 2400 Watts total so if the heater is less than (Check the information plate) then you should be good.    When using the maximum power unwind the lead completely and make sure nothing covers the cable that might get it hotter than it will...

My USB adapter /cables searing hot when in use but 13 amp plugs are fine?

Try again with a genuine apple or similar adapter ..  if, as is likely, that’s working fine take your  #¥$#¥ (big-dragons-breath) adapter and bin it

TV Cable Help - Satellite or Virgin Cable?

The satellite cables are likely to be fitted with F plugs which mate with the threaded sockets FreeSat receivers use  If not, F connectors simply screw onto the cable so if you get some of the right diameter to fit the cable they are really easy to fit  (cut cable to length Carefully remove...

    Rcbo ratings

Yes you could, but as others have said lighting (even LED lighting) is prone to high inrush currents at the moment of switch on.  Often people get away with it for ages as things are turned on and off at different times etc.    When a power cut comes at night though all the awitches are left on...
