what is my swa core size

Thank you John. Zdb is a term I understand

Correct way to joint 3 x 30 Amp cables, 30A JB not big enough

I agree with John. The input terminals on Consumer units use exactly that method.

    Some Electrics Have Stopped Working

So, it’s either a Neutral earth fault of one of those circuits or possibly a faulty RCD.

    Missing cpc on lighting circuit

Surely, the problem will always be that after an inspection, someone can always add fittings. Which is why it has to have a CPC to cover all eventualities.

    MICC gland thread

The problem is even with Metric, threads have different pitches which can be a real pain!!

    Dual RCD

It would still be an issue with shared neutrals and individual RCBOs

    Florescent Tube tripping fusebox

Apologies getting your name wrong John.

    Florescent Tube tripping fusebox

Hi Andy. I take it you are not trade. If you pop to a diy store you can buy in line connector boxes. Make sure the switch is off. don’t disconnect any wires in the switch. if unsure turn the power off at the consumer unit.

    C2 or C3

It may be ok in peoples opinion, but surely a reg is a reg!

    Earth leakage question.

Are you measuring across live and neutral phases and leaving main earth out of clamp meter jaws?

    Curious

The area would have been for communications. The XLR for audio send (mic) and return for headphones. The rest has already been explained and is for power.

    Extending Lighting Circuit

I think the problem here is surely the number of appliance’s and the load on an already (probably) loaded lighting circuit let alone future additions to the circuit. It’s one thing to put a door bell or the odd addition but this is a full cctv set up.

What is a good brand of socket/switches? Black nickel

Crabtree make a very good black nickel sockets and switches in all combinations, usb etc. Look on-line and you can get them at very competitive prices

    2.5mm Radial Extended with 4mm

If you could take the 4mm back to the board that would be more preferable, but more importantly this circuit definitely requires an RCD.

Manrose inline extractor fan (with timer)

I would check polarity. Use earth as your reference and make sure you have 230v on Phase conductor and switch conductor and zero volts on neutral conductor. I had a similar fault with a customer where someone had looped the switch phase conductor through the tungsten lamp and then on to the...

13A Socket on a lighting circuit.

I think it’s a good thing if labelled correctly. Christmas LED lights with 13A plug transformers is a good example. This allows lights to be controlled safely and switched off at night with other lighting. Rather than overloaded sockets, dodgy adapters and cabling. All being left on 24/7

    Pick your brains time :)

It was probably originally a voltage trip (yellow) and upgraded to a current RCD when the smart meter was fitted.
