    You need an apprenticeship at the electronics place. This will give you additional skills & qualifications in the electronics field. Such qualifications could be  ONC HNC HND The list is endless...................but they probably all trump your high school qualification when it comes...

    The last pic looks like the cable has been scored with a knife as it doesnt look like the sheath has torn, but has separated. Pic one looks like the cable has been cut ........ bit like when a cable fails PAT'ing & the tester lops the end off of a failed cable. inside the clover leaf...

    Agreed....I know I've been there  it's even worse during the winter months........just about completed on the job & something goes wrong (yes I've had the old RCD wont reset issue),daylight is rapidly diminishing out side, getting darker inside, the customer wants to get tea on, the kids...

    Binks is right, divide & conquer........ Split the ring as the first task. Do that & post the readings as you dont say what they were when you tested.

    Best one I had like this & it took an age to track down.... Turn any big appliance on in the house on any socket circuit (6 to choose from) off went the RCD. Pump in a garden pool was at fault. Doesn't help I know, apart from dont always assume it is as simple as a trapped cable.

    This might have something to do with possession of a gun is mandatory 5 years where as possession of a knife is 4 month sentence on a two strike deal (picked up twice carrying a knife under 16's get 4 months over 16's get 6 month).

    Something free from BT ..I don't believe it !!!

    Same here in fact large areas of Tilehurst in Reading are in Aluminium which causes no end of problems. My cousin who is still at BT  said they have the same issue at a small village in North Hampshire, so all they do when they get a service call is Megger the pair in case of moisture...
