    Long lasting boots?

44 years on and I'm still wearing my Dr. Martens bought when i was 20.

    Cable in concrete slab

Don’t use copper pipe in the concrete even taped over. The first place it will fail is where the pipe emerges from the slab. (It makes a beautiful job of it, looks like a pipe cutter has been used.) Polyethylene pipe is inert so won’t deteriorate due to the lime content of the concrete.

    What to do?

It wouldn’t meet NFPA NEC codes as only one NE connection at the supply point is allowed. To be honest nothing in this thread makes any sense.

    How daft can you get?

The Ellison OCB is still in Leeds. The scales, I’m trying to get out of a total strip down. If the beam quartz crystal knife edge centre bearings are shot it’s going in the skip. At the moment I think they’re OK. The beam end bearings are OK. I tried two 1 troy ounce Canadian Maple coins, one...

    How daft can you get?

I’ve spent about five hours setting the damb thing up and got it to within 0.05gm. I sneezed this morning and sent it out of balance. The brass weigh pans still look like a hens **** in them. The Duraglit is on order as are laboratory test weights. This is a work in progress. As soon as it...

    Incorrectly wired RCD

As it is I think the cable size is the least of the "OP's problems. BTW, it's good to see you back 🤩

    William Tell Overture?

Rossini may disagree. I love classical music, this has taken it from the sublime to the ridiculous. And it works!

    Vehicle Road tax

At Dusk till Dawn the club owner was paying the tab. Later the girls put me to bed, (at least I think was my bed). Finding my car on Sunday morning was a bit haphazard. The entire night was the hotel room and petrol.

    Incorrectly wired RCD

It’s OK saying isolate first, where does a DIYer isolate safely? I know what I’d do but I’m not telling a DIYer due to the inherent dangers. He needs a qualified electrician.

Seriously, get a real electrician in before you or one your of family get killed.

    Vehicle Road tax

Birmingham clubs not pubs. Staying at hotel I did end up rather drunk. I was then invited to the British Veterinary Association’s annual diner before going on to Miss Moneypenny’s. The podium dancers and I decamped to Dusk till Dawn at 04:00. When we left there I haven’t a clue, my memories of...

    Vehicle Road tax

Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and Leeds were my favourite places for the music / dance scene. Emphysema and arthritis has put paid to my wandering anywhere, much as I’d like to. A Ka with two of us would need a roof rack for the walking sticks 😉

    Incorrectly wired RCD

Get whoever fitted or is fitting the shower back. As it is, it’s dangerous.

    Vehicle Road tax

My friend is also on PIP, something we have considered is one of us gets the car and insure it for both to drive. Whether it’s legal is different matter.

    Vehicle Road tax

A Ford Ka would cost me £59 a week via Motability. No tax or maintenance to worry about. Taxis are a lot less than that and I don’t have to drive.

    Security of electrical supply

The grid is a very delicate balancing act. Some large plants have to contact their supplier to check there is enough spinning reserve to start the plant. Then there’s the Coronation Street add break factor.
