    Single Phase motor wiring question

The start winding resistance is always higher than the run winding, it’s only used for less than a second.

    Single Phase motor wiring question

A centrifugal switch is of no use without a capacitor to give a starting phase shift.

600 amp 3 phase service riser conductors and riser.

If you’re using taps-offs fr'om the riser then as far as I recall you have to rate the riser for the total fault current. Separate risers then you have to use the NIC tables taking in account separation and support points.

    Operating aged switchgear problems

The green switch grease made by Castrol was withdrawn not long after I came out of my time. Everyone had a tube stashed in their tool cupboard, I was still finding them 30 years later. I’m sorry but I thought most electricians knew about this. It’s why I recommended Vaseline.

    Sanity Check Required

Large water tanks gently heated over a long period. Our plant’s bath house had two 500 gallon tanks, even then the hot water would run out.

    Operating aged switchgear problems

Replacement parts are unavailable (discontinued 1997) so you’re going to have to be gentle. Try putting a bit of tension on the rotary handle with an adjustable spanner and hitting the pivot point with a hammer, it should shock the switch open. Clean the switch blades and apply a small amount...

can I run 17600w constantly on uk power supply ?

Have a look here for crypto currency https://kinesis.money/company-news/ you can get your investment back in precious metals. I can’t afford to buy in and to be honest I wouldn’t want to. “If you can’t hold it, you don’t own it.”

    Operating aged switchgear problems

From memory that should have RoB swearing. But it’s the switchgear the OP is working on I was asking about.

    Operating aged switchgear problems

What make of switchgear is this? I’ve resorted to a scaffold pole on the handle and mindless violence. Shorting across a 4000A 660V ACB raised a few eyebrows but it meant I could demolish the ACB from the front. One problem with old switchgear is the grease on the switch blades drying out and...

Can I put a camera on my wall looking over

It depends what you do with an image. The Designs, Patents and Copyright act (1988) was revised following an American court case where a street shot was used improperly.

Do they know something we don't ?

Germany is teetering on negative interest where you pay the bank to keep your money. FIAT currencies (look it up) have nothing physical to back them up and are in a precarious position.

The crimp failed first. The new firenuts have a metal thread inside that bites in to the copper.

    Retirement after 52 years ........

Our companies board room had a DB installed somewhere, could I find it, like hell I could. The cleaner was laughing as she watched me hunting about. Eventually she showed me a section of oak panelling that hinged out to reveal the elusive DB. It was a beautifully hand crafted oaken “death trap”...

What type of cable needed for connection to campsite 500m from power supply?

From experience £100k sounds about right for UKPN. 35 years ago the then EMEB wanted £25k for a 35kVA 11kV supply to a HGV garage in the Derbyshire Peak District Park. By the time the parks planning board got involved the price doubled. We installed a generator, it was cheaper. With a generator...
