bit random... general network set up (overall picture)

Wouldn't worry too much.  I foresee a major economic collapse before fossil fuels run out.  Possibly toward the end if not after my lifetime. Just look at the massive fires stripping the world currently, an progressively getting worse every year.  that's another subject though. An taking this...

bit random... general network set up (overall picture)

The current problem with EV is the batteries.  Ever wondered why they are produced in god forsaken places on the planet? Oh wait, those places don't comply with our emmission laws.  So although our air is cleaner, the amount of emissions pumped out by these manufacturing/mining places is huge...

RCD tripping over 40ms on 5x

However, you can still return the item under warranty if it still fails the tests? Haven't looked over the RCD testing requirements from the 18th, what's the change?

    Incorrectly wired RCD

I tried to add a smiley at the end to try and portray the tongue in cheek attitude.  Not sure where it was from, but I felt it was appropriate with some of the questions we get on the forums as I'm sure some people think we can read minds.

    Incorrectly wired RCD

My response was tongue in cheek rather than serious. I figured it was for something along those lines.

    What to do?

Firstly, is this work in the UK. As the practices regarding the disconnecting earths and connecting them to neutrals is not something taught here.  Ok, so a smart bulb is not rectifying the problem. You've left an open circuit that could have been caused by something potentially dangerous still...

Advice on bathroom light fitting on old house wiring

The conduit box will have a threaded hole in the bottom, use this to connect your earth (CPC). Dependent on age the thread could be BA rather than MM.  It does need checking that the conduit earth is still intact.  For the cost of a a call out an electrician would install the light and prove...

    Computer games

Modern phones have more computing power than the rocket that put man on the moon. Hartmann and Braun control was what I started on, then moving to Siemens Step 5. As you know our kiln setups were German in design.

    Electric Pulley System?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Automatic-min-dimmer-time-switch/dp/B01ANSJQ4Y Something like this may be a solution. First one that popped up on google, so I'm sure there are better models out there.  Will also depend on the type of lamp, and how it needs to be dimmed

    Computer games

I think, I will have a copy of the code somewhere at home. Might dig it out just out of curiosity.

    Computer games

I had to write a traffic light control program for a ZX80 for either my HND or degree, can't remember which now.  The amount of times I nearly pulled my hair out at it showing compiler error, an giving no diagnostic information on where the error was. Could've just been a comma instead...

    old guy newbie here.

It's happened before. Remember the cull of regular long standing members a while ago.  I dont know the politics behind it, an I don't so much care.  He must see it as a way of protecting his investment, after all, more page clicks means more money. Hence I imagine the .net change and opening...
