Could you not sell them where you are before moving and then use the money to buy replacements over here?

    Did I miss something ?

Electrical safety first is the new trading name of the elctrical safety council. they are an independent charity, but if you read their financial end of year reports around 75% of their money comes directly from Certsure. So it's fair to say they are pretty much under the exclusive control of...

    1361 fuse

Pas far as the theoretical world of the regulations is concerned then I guess the answer is that nothing protects them. obviously in reality the service fuse will operate.

    1361 fuse

Disconnection of what? The service fuse? That is not your problem as it is not protecting any part of the installation. If the DNO have said it is ok then it will disconnect in the required time according to their standards, which is all it needs to do. If the tails specifically require fault...

    1361 fuse

This may be a daft question, but what's the problem?

Insulation resistance test on live circuit

I don't think it is possible to establish the insulation resistance of the wiring with a load connected as you will never be able to eliminate the insulation resistance of the load. However you can establish a probable value of the IR to earth of the wiring and the load combined, however it will...

    Meters

Should you carry out testing? Yes definitely, at the bare minimum you would need to confirm that the polarity is correct!  How should you record this? A minor works certificate seems appropriate unless you are going to design your own purpose made certificate, I should think you also need to...

    Tele switch meter

How did you manage to disconnect it without realising? You'd have had to cut th seals and open the meter etc

    Torque screwdrivers

It would be a more sensible solution to the issue than the current round of nonsense we have. Far too sensible for it to actually happen I think. Something along the lines of the wago din rail terminals type of terminal could be made to work I think. of course it would result in numpties...

    Avatars

What's offensive about the lilly?  is this another of those brilliantly British occasions where people have to be told what they should be offended by in order for them to be suitably offended?

    Torque screwdrivers

I've only ever had the pleasure of doing engine work on my trusty old landrover. Grandad however spent his life working on very serious engines and associated mechanical bits in mining/quarrying machinery, trains, and suchlike

    Torque screwdrivers

which is pretty similar to what I was taught by my grandad (another old fitter), except he preferred to do a third of the torque, rest, then two thirds, cup of tea, re-do two thirds and then apply final torque. the extra stages I think were due to him working on engines and suchlike where most...

    replacing a power shower

it might make a stain on the floor when you **** yourself or throw up as a result of the electric shock though. Or if nobody finds you for a while cos dead bodies do tend to leak somewhat if left unattended for a while

    replacing a power shower

You risk a heck of a lot more than that if it's not done right, you risk your life. thats an interesting attitude considering that if you make a mistake with the plumbing you get wet, but making a mistake with electrics you die in a fraction of a second.

    Outdoor termination

You need to identify the point where it is connected to the supply a mad disconnect it there so that you don't leave a live cable buried where it is not required.  Once the the supply end of the cable has been disconnected and made safe then you can just chop the cable wherever suits and leave it.

    electrical mysteries?

It was a lead cable system which had the brown, green, red colour coding  see page 14 here https://www.westernpower.co.uk/getattachment/Connections/Competition-in-Connections/Engineering-Recommendation-Documents/G81-Appendix-doc.pdf.aspx

    electrical mysteries?

9th edition had green as one of the phases of a three phase supply.  Also part of WPDs power distribution area has an old network where brown green red were used for L1 L2 L3, its detailed in one of their technical documents if you search for it online.
