    Memera 2000 Consumer unit

Manufacturers are welcome to state and promote their own products. I am happy to use alternatives if safe to do so. I put a solid state drive from another manufacturer in my laptop...different brand for brake pads and disks for my van. Are those examples also using non-compatible parts or is it...

    Memera 2000 Consumer unit

I do that too...its okay. Sometimes not all things are available so I turn to whatever I have or can get at the time...so long as it fits well and of reasonable or better quality.

    Memera 2000 Consumer unit

My work practices are fine. In the case of domestic clients they own their installation, least we forget, regardless of the latest non-statutory regulations.

    Memera 2000 Consumer unit

I have and do mix and match where it is safe to do so (crowbar avoidance). Why ? To get power back on. I sign a MEIWC detailing a departure "not following manufacturers instructions"(try finding those after 30 years !! or "alternative manufacturer device used" Not all customers can afford a new...

NHBC guidelines on sockets in new builds

NHBC "help" their members of course and builders looking for more profit can try upselling. I had calls a few years back from new build home owners wanting prices for extra sockets (too few) and undercabinet lighting (none). The large building company were offering them price per unit as an...

Can I do ANY DIY work on business premises?

You have to be competent to do the work & would be liable if anything went wrong. Do you have public liability insurance for diy/electrical work? A two year old can put wires together but will struggle to read BS7671 (as will most adults). Can you test your work on completion to make sure it...

    EICR prosecution

Unfortunately they are too busy promoting themselves whilst taking membership monies....anyhow there is no (as far as I know) regulatory electrical body that oversees them all.

    Economy 7 water heating tank.

E7 rates are not as cheap as years ago, standing charge is more these days. Personally I would take your own meter readings every month and see what average you are using and ask neighbors. I have had some say it is cheaper with stg heaters and E7 others on standard rate with oil filled rads...

When and if I should get an EICR.

No not an issue if in good nick. I'd would price it at £250, everyone has their prices.... and then there are the estate agent 20 year out of date prices....encouraging remedial works to make it pay.;)

    Is this reasonable?

Any Customer who are hands on DIY etc will always find trades work expensive in my experience. (I was brought up to fix everything myself so i see your view) The cost was not expensive at all... in this trade you are expected to turn up when the customer wants usually at a moments notice with...
